    Default Persperation

I asked this question a long time ago so I'm going to try again. Hopefully someone can give me some good advice.
I have not had my sleeve yet. I am 5'6" and 227. I plan to lose between 80-100 pounds. I had a hysterectomy at age 40 but kept my ovaries. At age 57 I no longer produce hormones but can not go on hormone replacement for other health reasons. So here is my question. I am so hot most of the time. I perspire when I clean the house and even light activities. Last summer it wasn't very hot but I sweat something awful. I go out with friends to dance and sweat pours down my back, my hair gets wet around my face etc. It is so embarrassing. I layer my clothing so I can take off a sweater and have a lighter garment underneath. It is very embarrassing to wear tank tops or camisoles in the winter in Ohio.

Anyone have this problem, and did it get better after surgery and weight loss?

I can't exactly help you but my mother has the same problem. However according to her she's had it nearly all her life. If you've noticed this since you stopped producing hormones I would suggest talking to a doctor about this side effect and what could clear it up that you could go through with. I'm not sure if surgery would help you, though I know you will have some hormone release when the fat burns so it's a possibility that may change it, though whether permanently or not again I don't know.

I hope you can find an answer and that it's one you'll like. I know my mother finds it terribly embarrassing as well and she hates it.

For me personally, before surgery I would sweat like a pig at the drop of a hat. I haven't been thru menopause but have always been a person that sweats easily and my dad was too. Since surgery I rarely sweat unless I am seriously engaged in exercising or physical activity and even then it's pretty low amount compared to the drenching sweat I previously encountered. I am sure it is not the same for everyone, but it has been a refreshing change for me!

    Best of Luck!

Oh my god,you are talking to me. I live in Toronto Canada and we have cold winters and hot summers. Pre surg. Icould not stand to wear a winter coat, too hot and hated the hot summer. Now I need a down coat and have no problem with the humidity in summer. very weird to me. I do not sweat and often feel cold. That is my experience. \hope that helps and answers your question. Really I used to sweat like a pig. Now I don't.

I am 52 and had a partial hysterectomy just before I turned 40. I started sweating at 42 and it finally was so bad I could not take it anymore. I started hormone replacement therapy (HRT) around April or May and had my sleeve done on July 8th. I am not sure if it is the HRT or the weight loss but I tend to feel colder since my surgery.

I am not sure if this answers your question but I hope it helps.

Very generally speaking, people tend to feel colder after surgery. I'm sitting in my office with a fire going and wearing long johns, pants, a long sleeve t-shirt and a sweater and I'm still cold. For me, winters are getting almost painful. (Counting my lap band weight loss, I'm down 103 pounds. I started really feeling cold at about the 50 pound mark.) I'm to the point where I'd welcome a hot flash.

I am always freezing and it has nothing to do with me living in Bethel Alaska either. Before surgery I was often cold but not all the time and definitely not freezing popscicle cold.

Thank you everyone! It sounds like I have a good chance of cooling down after I lose some weight. I really have come to the conclusion that my weight is causing the sweating. I pray I get some relief from this after surgery, as it sounds like many of you have.

Thenewmetoday: Your answer is especially hopeful. When I get really hot I go outside and stand on the patio in snow until I cool off. I just had a new gas fireplace put in our family room and it is beautiful. I hope to be able to enjoy it without the fan beside my chair sitting in my summer pajama's.
