Default Vacation backslide, but only for a second!

I spent last weekend (4 days) in New Orleans on my first real vacation since WLS. It was a girls trip... Basically a rolling cocktail party. Eat, drink, walk, shop, eat some more, drink some more. Hey... I WAS getting my STEPS in, RIGHT? I'd gone a couple of pounds below into my goal range and was "prepared" for the splurge. Weighed before I left, weighed when I got home 4 days later...FIVE pounds! So obviously I can't really drink a lot at one time either, but in a setting where that's happening All. Day. Long it can put you in the ditch really fast! I'm not overly stressed about it because THIS time I have good habits in place to recover. Today at 4:30 am I was back on the bike, pushups, crunches, logging my food and protein. Limits on empty calories until I'm back where I want to be. It WILL come off and I'll be back to bouncing around in the lower end of my goal range before long. What all of this tells me is that even after WLS, it will be a life long battle to maintain my good health. For me that means a once per week weigh in, food journaling and exercise. Without these, I can slip too far WAY too fast! Happy Monday!

Don't worry about hurting my feelings because I guarantee you not one bit of my self esteem is tied up in your acceptance.

    2 POUNDS BELOW YOUR GOAL!

I am so very happy for you.

As everyone says, it's a life-long journey and it isn't like you are in the Big Easy every day. You had a great time, now as you said, it's time to get back on track. Soon the weight gain will be gone but you will still have those amazing vacation memories!

When I hit goal, I'm not going to let it get out of hand...just like you.

Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
