I think it was about 5 hours. I'm sure everyone is different based on pain and other factors.

I was in the recovery room for about an hour after surgery. Then when I got to my hospital room I was up and walking 30 minutes later. I am pretty sure that after recovery room, they let you walk as soon as you feel able.

I was in the recovery room for several hours due to some issues with pain meds. However I was in my room about 2 hours when I started making my first steps. It sucked at the beginning but got a lot better.

to prevent blood clots and respiratory issues, better to start walking as soon as you get back to your room, you will be going to the bathroom alot with the IV fluids that will be raging through your bladder

I was up probably within 4-6 hours. Anytime I wasn't up and walking you had to have the compression boots on your ankles/calves.

It's been almost a day and I am barely being told to get up, the first nurse told me to just go from my bed to the chair. But then he left and no other nurse told me it was ok to start walking, I was starting to get really frustrated and asked them again and they said finally they said yes. I was getting so frustrated of just being in bed and sitting down.

I just did 10 minutes of walking and I feel great!
