I have been hearing that people get dental work done in mexico at the same time as surgery, I am wondering if anyone here has done so? tell me where you went, and your experience I could use some work done that I cant afford here...
When I went to TJ to get my sleeve, there was a woman there who had gotten sleeved a few months previous, she was now back to have dental work done. I believe she went thru Dr. Almanza's coordinator, Louise Johnson, to find a dentist. I don't know what the results were, but I know she was there to get implants.

If I had known about the whole medical tourism industry before I went, I absolutely would have. I have spent a literal FORTUNE on dental work and need more. For the price of one crown here I can have 4 done there. And some places will take your insurance... so my $1500 yearly cap (that only pays up to 50% of each major procedure and is after deductible) will cover about 1.5 crowns here but will do about 4-5 crowns there.
I already plan to go back. I will ask my surgeon for a referral at the time (Dr Kelly). If he doesnt have anyone, I have the name somewhere of a dentist that someone I met at the hotel was there to see and highly recommended (I dont know her, so that may not mean anything).
I have read a lot about it, and hope to go this summer sometime... As soon as I am sure, I plan to start researching and communicating with them to decide. I have no qualms about the quality of work in MX versus here at all. Heck, I am not all that happy with the work here anyway!
Let us know what you end up doing and your experience please!
have you thought about going to an university that has a dental school? Nothing against MX, just thinking about costs of flights and hotels. (Hoping you aren't wanting to combine sleeve and dental work in one trip. If so, you are more of a woman than I am.)
Hubby had all four of his wisdom teeth pulled for $150 at UAB's School of Dentistry.
Just wanted to mention it, in case you weren't aware of the option.
I actually had a lot of dental work done very cheaply at dental school a long time ago. Good point - I dont know if they do veneers or orthodontics like invisalign but worth checking out. Biggest difference will be time factor - dental school likely wont do whole mouth at once?
Worth comparing! Thank you!
My orthodontist teaches at UAB. Although I did not use the school, I do know that yes, they do offer services. From what I understand, you pay the "supplies" but not sure how much more they charge.
invisalign and braces are something that you would probably want to do locally, if that is what you are considering. That way they can make adjustments.
I asked Dr. Kelly's office this and they said that they could recommend a dentist while I am down there (March). I just want to have my teeth whitened (Zoom teeth whitening is the procedure I am looking for).
