I'm getting to where I should buy stock in Tums. LOL!
Seems 90% of the time after I eat anything I get heartburn & need tums.
I know this is also normal. but wonder how bad is your & how constant?

My heartburn is not bad though I hear lots of people mention it, if yours is more constant try an acid preventer or reducer instead of antacid. when I had reflux the acid reducer was awesome!

Same thing, after eating. just take one every morning for a few days and see what happens.if your ins. doesnt cover it, I used the generic at walmart and it was great.

I had same thing, especially when laying down too. I bought generic equivalent of Prilosec OTC and take daily (some people were told to take twice daily). Your tummy is very tiny, but still producing acid and it backs up into your esophagus. THe acid reducer keeps it calm. One pill every morning and its gone, and much less damage to your esophagus! And probably can try stopping after a few weeks to see if you still need it. I dont plan to take forever (at least I hope not!). I have read where doctors required it the first few months too.
My surgeon said that there may be times when we need to go back on it periodically because of sleeve. He said for a few weeks then check it out.this could happen weeks or months after sleeve.
its okay, acid is acid. when you get to the store there are many choices. it probably doesnt matter which one you get, I tried many when I went through that and they all work. I had acid reflux so bad for ten years or more, so bad i couldnt sleep at night for the burning. I ate rolaids like candy til someone said acid reducer, it was a dream come true. then one day I decided to do low carb and within three days I didnt need and acid reducer at all! still, thats probably not your problem, so give it a shot! Good luck!

Congratulations!!! You are so close to goal weight!!!
I would complain to your doctor - why is this happening - shouldn't these kinds of issues go away as you get your weight off?
Antacids can be over or under the counter - least expensive at Walmart - sometimes if one doesn't work for you - another brand will.
Tums, tums, we all eat them - they are extremely high in calcium - think of yourself taking care of your bones!!
Good luck to you!!!
I am a little over 2 months since my surgery and feel like I should have gone with the bypass. This acid problem is so severe for me. I don't eat or drink anything that can or will make it worse. I am nauseated all day. My stomach is so full of acid all the time 24/7. I take 2 prescription anti acids a day and still have severe acid. It makes me feel hungry all the time. I chew tons of tums and drink alot of malox. I hate this so much. I had gallbladder removed 10 years ago and have had acid problems since. The surgery made it so much worse. I am hoping as I lose this weight it will get better.
Acid....hate it! I take (2) 20 mg Prilosec daily and STILL have to take acid reducers (Zantac) or Tums on top of that. Mine isn't after I eat, it is whenever the tummy is empty. MomZor, I am sooo sorry about your acid issues, the Zantac seems to help a lot! I agree, it mimics hunger....i know if there is nothing in there, I'm gonna have a problem so I end up constantly putting something in there. Hoping when I can add solid protein that will help.
