That's reassuring. I see that you are about 4 1/2 months out now. Do you remember when you were able to tolerate them? I'm going to cut up my one evening pill tonight instead of crushing it and see how it works. I want to start on the Biotin also, so i think i will try it also. Thanks for your encouragement!

I've been taking capsules without breaking them apart. Like I mentioned, if it fits through the McDonald's straw, I take it as is. I have been able to take Tylenol gel capsules from day 4 post-op without trouble. I also take 4 Prilosec capsules each day. I don't even feel them.
WooHoo! That gives me great hope! I count the 14 lbs.I lost pre-op also in my total. It is all about the journey.

Debbie, by a McDonald's straw do you mean the white and red one they put with their sodas? Are there different sizes or are they all the same diameter? (I am seriously anal! lol) I'm thinknig their straws are kind of thick....

Amy, I've already started taking sublingual biotin; it's only 1000 mg, so I take two in the morning and two at night right now, just dissolve them under my tongue. I found it at Walmart, maybe $6 for 90 of those.

Well, I'm replying to my own post! you are right about the quantity. 4000 to 5000 mcg. daily. I'd better get on it!

I read 5000 mg is optimal. On another forum, a guy was taking 10,000 mg, but that might be over kill. I'm also going to take the sublingual B12 and chewable multi with iron (two a day).

Right now, I take an arsenal, including garlic, alpha linolic acid, extra C, etc. I should probably stop since I'm two weeks out from surgery.

    Are Tums sufficient for calcium?

I don't know how many mg of calcium are in Tums. But you need at least 1000 daily, and you process calcium better with D, preferably D3. My doctor said it was OK to take everything up until the surgery. But he said not to worry about right after surgery. His point was that it wasn't going to kill you to do without for a couple weeks. Better that than to irritate the stomach.

I used to be so accurate with supplements daily. Now i have slacked off because there were so many i couldnt swallow/crush. I'm pleased to say i did not crush anything last night and had no problem. I need to reintroduce my usual regimen and get back on track.

Amy, I'm so glad you could swallow your pills. I really am a big believer in supplements, so not being able to swallow anything would stink.

Thanks, Debbie. That helps a lot. I guess I'll have to go to McD! lol
