    Default 28 months/1 month out

So Today a month ago I went in about right now and was having surgery! I have come so far and am posting a pat on the back that I have successfully made it through this month with no complications besides some diahrrea for a couple weeks and OOPS I did have a couple accidents thinking it was gas but wasn't! lol. I learned so much about my sleeve, myself and my limitations and mostly what I call my "liberations" from the hold my unhealthy perspective of food had on me for a lifetime. I am celebrating what one sleever calls "non scale victories" or NSV's. Just another nugget of wisdom I acquired from a wise member that has added to my qaulity of life!

I am celebrating no more bloating, eating so healthy I have broke my carb addictions for REAL! I have broken my Soda and Caffeine addictions and I now have control over portion control without feeling I am depriving myself and I can walk 5 miles and enjoy it if I want too. I focus on things BESIDES my next meal and actually have a lot more satisfaction in my life b/c I do more than think Of food!lol

I am a recovering food addict and my first month out has made me feel so accomplished for the first time in my life I know I can move on to other goals that I have long desired to try but didn't think I could!

    Lori

Well done for getting through the first month. It's wonderful isn't it when you are no longer obsessed by food. I used to eat every 2 hours and was always getting hypos and sugar craving - all gone now though!

Keep up the good work and keep us posted as to your progress

Congrats! You are doing an amazing job!! Look at you walking 5 miles a day... how long does that take? I am impressed!

Not buying soda is making a huge difference in my grocery bill! I don't even buy it for the kid anymore. He can have it as a treat outside of the house but not buying it to store it for everyday drinking for him as that's what got me in this situation! I don't even think about missing it... Never thought that would happen!

Your right, I never thought I could overcome it too. It takes me about 1 hour to 1 hour and 15minutes but If I have my dog it has to be a 3-4 miler which is about 3-4 days a week and the other couple I can get in 5! Hes a little guy and can't keep the pace . lol, but he needs his exercise too

Your welcome. It is good to have this place to vent the difficulties as we experience them but there are a lot of good days too! I have had a very good sleeve experience and try to encourage others. We all know the reality though, that there are good and bad days with the sleeve, but it was well worth the changes. I am glad we have a place to share our mountains and valleys. Best wishes on your surgery!

Fantastic ! May you continue to have great success. Today is my 1 month anniversary. My family and friends tell me it was the best decision I ever made for myself. These were the same people who were afraid for me. Especially, when I decided to go to Mexico. They're now excited and happy for me. As a matter of fact, it has encouraged them to start excersing and eatting healthy.

Enjoyed your post. It is so good to be free from sugar, caffeine and carbs. Preop diet was a killer but on the plus side it cleared all that junk out of my system.

NSVs are wonderful! And a great attitude really makes a difference - you are doing awesome! I managed to break a 6-12 cans-a-day habit of Code Red Diet Mtn Dew -- giving up caffeine, nutrasweet, and saving about $80/month! Other NSVs for me have been - better posture (have to sit up straight to avoid the "kinks" and things getting stuck), less sleep and more energy (finally, not in the beginning!), room in my brain to think about things other than food, time in my day to think about and do things unrelated to food (seriously, I was spending half my day getting a meal, planning a meal, looking for a meal, wishing I had a meal...) Saving money on food! I was spending over $10 a day at the gas station on the way to and from work, sometimes two or three times a day. Even eating out now is way cheaper - I can order an appetizer and take most of it home with me and have 2-3 days more meals from it! Noticing the people around me more (even when they are not holding food ). New friends! i look forward to reading this forum every day, and there are a few people I feel like I know and love to chat with.

I know there are more, but thank you for making me think about this much! Keep it up!
