    Default New life,

Hello all. My name is John. I'm 6'4" and when I first called about surgery in December, I was 336 pounds. I started my liquid diet pre op on January 1rst. 5 days with just fluids. I thought it would be terrible. It wasn't. I weighed myself before surgery and I had lost 3 pounds. That was it. I was pretty disappointed to be honest. But I had the surgery on Jan 6. It sucked. No doubt. But I was puking and burping and was really struggling. My roommate had it so so easy. Nothing strange at all. I kind of regretted my decision for a couple days. But after getting home on the 10th. I weighed myself on my scales and I had lost about 10 pounds total. Not bad. I'm sticking with the diet strictly. No cheating except I take a spoonful of honey some days. It's January 20th now, and when I got on the scale this evening, I have lost 39 pounds. In 20 total days. Other people who have had the surgery in my group have lost 8-20. I'm staying on the liquid diet another week. It I think I need to start taking a Vitamin. Anyway. Go into this with a clear picture of what you're getting into and realize it's a life changing event. You can't eat the same way as before. Good luck

Your progress is amazing. I hope you start foods soon, though. My liquid portion of this journey was only 10 days and then on to soft foods. Now, I am almost three months out and last night at "Pasta Night" I ate a tiny bit of pasta loaded up with mussels...delicious! All amounts are very small, but so satisfying which I cannot say was the case in my previous, unsleeved life. Good luck on your journey!

Hi John, that's an amazing loss so far!
My surgeon said to start on vitamins as soon as I got home (chewables). I know every dr has a different protocal. Mine is liquid for 2 weeks after. They said I could have a spoonful of greek yogurt here or there but I haven't. I'll start soft foods after 14 days. My Dr stressed there is no rush so I'm going to follow along their instructions.

This is absolutely life changing, but should be in a good way in time.
