Hi everyone - just wanted to send a note encouraging all those that may be feeling discouraged right now!!
Especially those that have had their surgery within the last month or so..
In the beginning it was HARD. I was only able to eat a tablespoon at a time.. or less... and i felt soo hungry... or it looked soo good!
Uggh.. it was frustrating.. But little by little you will get to a point where you can eat a little more and feel full, and satisfied.
I am 5 months in, I've lost 47 pounds and a total of 68 inches..
I can eat about 1/2-3/4 cup of food at a time - but - I also eat about every 2-3 hours now..
I take one a day vitamin and B12 both chewables.. since I hate taking pills..
I feel way more confident and am almost to my goal weight already..
The hardest part is the Mental part.. the - looking at a big thick juicy burger and knowing the most you would get out of it is ONE bite.
Looking at a piece of PIZZA and knowing you wouldn't get more than 2-3 bites total.
Mentally this is my challenge.. wanting the bad food.. BUT - I am so grateful I had this surgery because it has changed my eating habits..
I'm not completely clean eater.. I wont lie.. but I definitely don't eat like I used to! and I'm getting better each week
I am learning my limits (the first month of getting back to normal food i was throwing up almost every time (because I was eating too fast or too much)
When you see the big plates of food... or your cooking and think oh this is going to be sooo good (and then you only get 1 bite..) it can be a little discouraging.. but I promise you - IT IS WORTH IT!
If I didn't have this surgery I have no doubt I would be another 20 pounds more than what I was when I started this journey.
Hang in there.. If you have questions feel free to ask.
Here are some useful tips
I get the hiccups every time I eat.
I get a little more indigestion than I used to get.
I can't eat things or drink things I used to - COFFEE does not agree with my stomach anymore :/
I burp a little more than I used to.
WE save money because my husband and I share entrees when we go out to eat LOL
We rarely go out to eat now..
My husband has lost 25 pounds too because I eat / cook less and healthier..
I still haven't told most of my friends and family.. a very select few know and only my husband and adult kids know..
when people ask what I'm doing to lose the weight.. I tell the truth: I eat less and more often
I hope some of this helps!
