    Default Anger...

I have lost 11 pounds since my surgery 2 weeks ago. I've lost a total of 51 since walking in my surgeons office. I have a new, wonderful man in my life after 21 years of being married to a not so wonderful one. All of these good things going on and I am bone tired and flying off the handle at everyone! Go back to work? Join a gym? Ha! I hardly have enough energy to stand and my attitude is downright nasty! Help!

Your body may not be getting the vitamins and minerals it needs. And if you're feeling tired and weak it's natural to be crabby. Are you taking any supplements and vitamins? Are you getting enough sleep? Protein? I know I felt a lot better when I could eat food and when I started exercising. Hope you get your good mood back.

I take 2 multis daily and 3 Cal +D. My NUT wants me to get at least 60 grams of protein a day, I have exceeded that every day. I think I am getting enough sleep. I have just started on food, pureed food, but food just the same. I am not taking B 12 or Iron yet because my NUT says I need to wait til my doc tests my levels in a few months. I feel like I could use a B 12 shot or a large iced coffee with caramel swirl, cream, 3 Equal and we know that isn't going to happen!

You need to relax and take it easy!
First it's too early for the gym, you need to be cleared for work out and that should happen at your first month visit. Rest as much as possible, it is important.
I was feeling pretty bad my first month too. For other reasons (my constant nausea was hard to handle and was at it's pick the first month) but loosing so much weight quickly does take it's toll on our bodies and also our minds.
If you're moody it's also because when losing fat we also have more toxins in our blood stream (fat does store toxins) and our hormones are upside down after the surgery.
At that stage, the best thing to do it drink as much as you can to help evacuate those toxins, and that's not easy to drink right now I know.
Like Christie said, take your vitamins and have enough protein.
You should feel better soon, I was at my worth the first month, it got better and better each week.
Pre-op I did warn my husband and children that I could be a little moody after surgery, they said later they didn't really notice anything but I could feel it.
Think positive, it does help too. Take care

I started taking my B12 about 1 week post op. I think that helped me a lot.

Please don't discount the fact of anesthesia. I really did not feel energized at all for 6 weeks. I went through the motions, but was exhausted. If you were married for over 20 years, then you are not a youngster. Surgery takes its hidden toll on our bodies. At 6 weeks, it's as if someone turned a switch and I could do so much more. At my first post-surgery doctor appointment I had lost 12 pounds and all I could think was "I just wish I felt better". I hoped that wasn't the best I was going to feel, and it wasn't. I am almost 3 months out, and back to my old self!

    1. anesthesia effects (like jamma said)
    2. hormonal effects (like Sandra3 said)
    3. lack of B-12 (like Christie13 said)

Everybody takes B-12 right after surgery. They remove most of our stomachs which is where B-12 is absorbed, so yeah....kinda makes sense to take it. SUBLINGUAL, don't swallow it, put it under your tongue.
