Default A LITTLE Diet soda occasionally?

I had my sleeve 7 months ago...I drink a lot of water, but occasionally would enjoy a few sips of diet soda. If I'm careful, would it hurt me? Does anybody know?

I was told no effervescent drinks including soda and alcoholic beverages for a year. I have had a sip of wine here and there, and I was served seltzer water by mistake once not too long ago and it hurt like hell! maybe 'cos I took a big swig lol!

Besides, why soda? why go down that slippery rope?

Some people can handle it. And occasionally I can take a sip of my husband's diet sodas.

But I've mostly had terrible experiences with it. In my case, carbonated sodas turn my stomach into an acid pit. Once I suffered for a full week with baaaaad acid reflux after over-indulging in diet Coke.

Honestly, given the other things I like to treat myself with post-op, i.e., occasional small portions of wine, single-malt scotch, and dark chocolate, I'm happy to forgo sodas -- along with fast food, potato chips, Oreos, and the other overly processed crap I used to eat and drink.

I drink diet soda. I was never told I couldn't, and it doesn't bother me at all. (Nothing bothers my stomach, I think it is a rock.) That being said, I know it is not good for me. But I could have worse habits....

The carbonation puts pressure on the sleeve so it can be bad. That far out...only your doctor knows.

I had a sip of Dt DR Pepper and thought it was one of the worst things I put in my mouth, EVER. No need to do that again so problem solved for me.

I drink fountain drinks on occasion. sugar free, of course, and they are heavenly! No problems whatsoever.

It won't "stretch" your sleeve, because of a little human quirk called BURPING! LOL

If you add a little low calorie sweetner such as sweetnlow, equal, or splenda,
it takes the carbonation out of the soda and your're better able to handle it. But don't make soda a habit. Choose to switch to sugar free drink mixes instead.

Yes, that "stretch your sleeve" thing is a myth going on around here. I certainly know my sleeve hasn't stretched in over 3 years, especially the other day when I tried the smallest burger from Culver's. No way could I eat even half. Silly idea.
