Default Trying to Get Physically Fit Before the Surgery.

So I have been on this pre-PRE op diet for almost 3 weeks now and have dropped 15 pounds. I had begun working out to my Zumba dvd's and that's going good. But today, my sister and I went on a HIKE (yes, folks, a HIKE) up in the Red Rock Canyon here in Las Vegas. My fit app monitored my steps (over 7500); the miles hiked (2.92) and we did it in a little over an hour and a half. We climbed to a waterfall and all I could think of was "Dear Lord, don't let this fat ass fall off a ravine.. or we're in trouble"! LOL. And my sister was saying that if a mountain lion saw us, it would see two Italian sausages on the trail! I found myself thinking of the day, maybe next fall, when I will be so much lighter on my feet and not actually resemble one of the wild burros that roam around up there.

I love the Red Rock Canyon, we took pictures there in 2012 with my husband and friends when hubby and I renewed our wows. Was July, burning hot, but we had lots of fun! Those colors are just amazing!
You will remember that moment and do it again at one year out and it will be unbelievable!
I was laughing at your sausage comment because I often talk about my "French bacon" ;-D
When we first moved to Taipei, going to the organic store was draining me...it just one mile away but seemed so far, and with the heat and strong humidity I was exhausted just to get there. Now it's just a short walk...what a difference a year makes..

All last year, I would look into clothing store windows and sigh, "next year". Well, that year is here and it's really been fun knowing that some of those things will fit and look good. I golf a lot and can't believe the extra stamina I have, I do not need a nap after 18 holes!

Hi Lori, so happy for you and your progress! I feel like a total sloth, and can only be on my treadmill about 20 minutes at this point, sucking eggs the whole time! I'll be so elated when I've lost some of this baggage and exercise won't be so difficult. Im just dreaming of those days right now, but soon it will be a reality. Can't wait for us to get sleeved in April!

I'll enjoy exercising so much more when I lose this excess cargo! I used to do it 4,5 days a week, when I was 190 lbs...but having added an addition 60 lbs more has been horrible.
When I had my appointment the other day with the surgeon, he looked at my papers I turned in and said 'you've been walking 10 minutes a day? That's nothing. Go 45. And 20 minutes of Zumba? Not enough.' Good grief, I'm just beginning! I want to ease into it, and my hike yesterday did just that.

Sandra, yes Red Rock Canyon is beautiful. Only a half hour from my house. I've lived here 21 years and had never hiked in there. First time for everything.

I was quite excited this morning when I popped in my Zumba Fitness DVD and actually did 40 minutes!!! I started out three weeks back at 10 minutes, then 15 and up to 20-25 minutes, where I would then collapse on the couch and flop like a giant tuna! But today I just pushed through it and made it 40 minutes. Hoping to hit 50 in another week or so.

Way to go!!! I can't wait for my doctor to release to start the gym. I am walking a lot during the day. I remember last year how hard it was walking to the end of the street and back. Now I walk about 50 mins several times a day!
