Default Nearly 2 weeks out and have lost..

only 7 pounds! I am eating only 1/4-1/2 cup of food. Sticking to my protein drinks and water. I am doing a walking/cardio program. Is this normal? I go to the MD tomorrow and I am afraid he is going to say its not enough.

We all lose weight differently. Some lose a lot right away - others, like me, seem to do it at a slower but steady pace. Losing is losing as far as I'm concerned. It took me 15 years to gain the weight so I don't expect it to fall off over night.

Stay the course and you'll reach your goal!

Just remember that stalls happen, sometimes directly after surgery. Don't let it get you down. You WILL pull out of this once your body has adjusted to it's new weight 7 lbs AND a major surgery seems like it was enough to throw your body for a loop. It'll calm down and you'll start shedding the weight. Just hang in there.

Congratulations on 7 lbs you'll never see again!!!

HW: 297+lbs ( stopped weighing myself, it was probably 318 ish)

First off, you're stalling and there's not a damn thing you can do about it at this early stage of your trip. Throw your scale in the garage and forget it's there for the next month. Almost everyone on here experienced a stall in the first three to four weeks. Again, since you can't eat much of anything, there's nothing proactive you can do about it......yet. After a couple of months, in my opinion, there's plenty you can do to bust stalls and better yet, never get them again. But hey...that's just me.

As for your Surgeon.....take what I am about to say to heart. The only person on earth who can say what you are losing is either too much or too little is you. You are in charge of your trip. Use this time to research different approaches to losing with the sleeve and find one that seems to fit your lifestyle and try it. If it works, great. If it doesn't, then try another one. Eventually, you will find one that not only works for your lifestyle, but, will also maximize your metabolism and make the weight fall off.

I'll be glad to help anytime.

    Robert

Take a look at my monthly weight losses below. See how fast I lost weight? LOL!

Yeah, my non-speedy weight loss is pretty typical for those with starting weights near mine. And yours.

I think you're doing great! Keep doing what you're supposed to do and relax.

I felt the same way. I think I only lost like 3 or 4 lbs the first week and then had a follow up with my doctor. And you know what he said?? Not a damn thing!! His concerns were how I was feeling. If I had nausea. If I was able to drink and keep it down. How much fluids I was getting in. How much protein. Checked out my scars and asked if I had had any fever. It is normal to lose weight at YOUR pace. It is completely different for everyone. And yes there are also those stalls in the beginning to make you question what you are doing wrong. The answer. Nothing. It is going to happen how your body wants it to happen. The only thing I have ever found for me that stalls my weight loss is if I am not getting enough protein or fluids. So that is the only thing I focus on. I started working out about 3 or 4 weeks after surgery very lightly and focusing on strengthening exercises. And I am now in my 3rd week of a running program. Just listen to your body! You got this!

I did gain weight at the hospital. Of course it was water retention from 3 days of IV, but still, I was not really happy about it. Indeed, after two decades of diets and always failing I was feeling that my sleeve was my last hope and was worried.
But I did have a serious chat with my surgeon at my first week post-op, he said that if I was eating like before (I had a "very good diet" from what my nut said, ironic isn't it?... but my main issue was quantity) and just reduce a little the chocolate, exercise more, I would be fine.
    He was right indeed.
It's good that you watch your food quantity, 1/2 cup is the maximum until month 5 or 6.
But just check your scale once or twice a week, not more. And to start exercising, wait for your surgeon to clear you. My doc only allowed me some light walking the first month, after that I was cleared to work out.
You are doing great!!! just relax and think positive!! Take care.
