    Default No Snow, So Sad

    Attachment 26496

This beautiful snow has already melted and today my woods was just muddy. Until tomorrow when we are supposed to get a huge ice storm! Won't be hiking then I guess. (Too bad I didn't save my ice skates from growing up in Wisconsin.)

What's the difference between hiking and taking a walk in the woods?

Wow Kindle, where do you live? Here in Missouri if we get snow it doesn't last too long. Grandkids came from the South for Christmas looking for snow, and we had none.

I don't know if there is a difference between hiking or walking in the woods. I get the trekking poles out if it's snowy for more help with the steep hills, then I guess it feels more like a hike. Either way I love being out in nature.

Meanwhile in Southern Texas we are having an unusually mild winter. It is currently in the mid to high 70's. We did have a few days that it dropped into the 20's last week but it was like 3 days then shot back up to the 70's. Such bizarre weather. Unless I go visit someone, no chance of snow here. LOL.

I'm in Florida and enjoy the walks on the beach. Dreading going back to our home in Maryland in Fed... then it's to a gym.

Oh HELL NO! Are you serious with that picture? OMG I would die lol I moved from the Midwest and far too many scenes like that over 47 years to none of that and sunshine most of the year in Arizona in 2007. Thank goodness too. Even though we're in our raining and dreary season right now - unusual for it to last thing long - we still don't have too shovel rain

Eastern Idaho. This is the most snow we've had in years. Unfortunately our options this winter have been minus double digits or dumping snow. School closed 2 days last week cause it was so cold the diesel fuel was gelling up in the school buses and closed 3 days this week cause they couldn't keep the roads open for longer than a couple hours at a time. My preference is for the -20's at this point. I have nowhere left to pile snow. It's going to be a very muddy, messy spring.

Glad you're able to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Woweee! I just don't know what I don't know! I am going to be more careful about wishing for Snow!

@PamG I always thought of "hiking" as a more precarious walk with steep inclines and down hill ways and danger of falling off ravines with a misstep, and a "walk in the woods" more leisurely but not without it's difficulties.

My my daughter hiked the AT last year. She took some amazing photos. She's planning to hike the PCT this year.

Hiking is probably what I did a Glacier National Park last summer. So maybe it's not a hike without a backpack with water, trekking poles, high top hiking boots, a floppy hat, and cute hiking clothes from REI.

Kindle, if you live near a ski resort I would be there.

Obsessive shopping is the only downside I see from the surgery. Of course for a hiking trip I had to buy stuff from REI! Though why regular clothes wouldn't work for hiking I don't know....
