So, I was sleeved on the 4th of Jan 2017 (last week) My diet plan says not to start using the sublingual B-12 til next week. Should do as she says or start using the super absorbing tablets now? What do u think?
there's no reason why you couldn't have already started them. weird that they'd say that.

gummies don't provide nearly enough B12 for us, and our tummies have lost a good amount of their absortive powers, so sublingual B12 is recommended

I actually bought some b12 sublingual tonight when I went to Walgreens just to be on the safe side So many different things, a friend had his sleeve done here in the states on Monday and they started him on protein shakes right away but mine has me on liquid diet for 10 days My surgeon also wanted me to start my multi vitamin the same day as the b-12 5 days after I was released
I have to say reading what everyone's doctor says what to start post op makes me feel so confused. My doctor said liquids for 3-10 days, but if we can tolerate soft foods we could go to that. I did and am doing super well. I don't know. Sometimes I just hope I'm doing everything right.
there's no "right" way. Like you said, everyone's doc is telling them something different. Obviously there is no "right" way, it's just one doc's opinion vs another. If there's one thing being a nurse has taught me, it's that doctors are human and have opinions just like the rest of us. Some of the advice they give is opinion, not firm medical fact.

Follow your surgeon's guidelines. Get sublingual or injections, we can no longer effectively absorb oral B12. Do bloodwork at 3,6, 12 months and annually thereafter. (CBC, metabolic panel, B12, D3, iron/ferritin, folate and zinc). Need a dexa scan to assess calcium levels/bone density since blood calcium levels are meaningless. Base your vitamin regimen/doses on your lab results. Everyone is going to have different requirements, it's not a one size fits all.
FYI > Not all the same is right, We had our surgeries in Cairo, Egypt.... Excellent Operation, Excellent Surgeon. However when we went home with our Post Op prescriptions, we both got a bag full of goodies. Ampules of B12 2.5g Combo, D3 600,000 Combo, Antibiotic with solution for injection, and an assortment of syringes, plus alcohol wipes. The YT videos were a help.... Now all we have is the every 3 months B12 and D3, The calcium is another thing that we have to figure out, Laura is looking for some WLS Vitamin Supplements (BariatricFusion) to bring back......
