No -- fiber and rice are NOT what you need right after surgery. Rice is absolutely contraindicated. Doctors tell you to avoid it for months and months post-op. Any high-fiber foods or additives will swell up in your stomach and push the limits of your staples and stitches. You don't want a leak.
And the last thing any sleeved patient needs early on is to start eating anything with added sugar. Please stay away from sugar for as long as you possibly can.
Since you aren't able to eat much at all at that point, because your poor tiny sleeve is so swollen and trying to heal post-op, what you need to spend your stomach's tiny capacity on at this phase is protein.
Soft foods that worked well for me and that included protein were non-fat refried beans (in a can), melted cheese, and canned chicken (mashed up finely). Mix all those up and sauce it up with a dab of salsa. It's not bad at all.
Other easy, soft foods with protein include yogurt and cottage ceese. I expect you've already had that, but it's still good for you.
This probably varies person to person, but of all the fishes that went down easy early on -- for me it was salmon. I couldn't even handle tuna salad early on. But that could've been peculiar to me.
Once again, focus as much as possible on protein. My surgeon had me on 60 grams of protein daily as fast as I could get there.
And if you don't find soft foods easy, it's OK to stick a little longer at pureed foods. You'll get to real food sooner than you think.
Very best wishes.
