Default Protein Shake is Hard To Enjoy

I bought a couple different flavors of the Pure Protein shakes today, to test out. I tried the 'Rich Chocolate' and it was anything but. I drank half then put the remainder in the blender with 3 ice cubes. It wasn't much better!
Can a protein powder be used as an additive, instead of drinking? Like adding a spoonful to oatmeal, or into yogurt, or mixed in with tuna? I'm trying to prepare myself for AFTER surgery and drinking the shakes, but honestly, the texture and taste made me gag! Any suggestions?

After surgery my doctor had me on skim milk for 2 weeks for the protein. Then on week three I got to add carnation instant breakfast (light version with least sugar) to the milk. Once I got to soft foods I pureed turkey and ate meat substitutes like poached eggs and cottage cheese. I also bought some protein shots ( small bottles made by Hormel) that have 24 g protein in a very small bottle. I got peach flavored and it does not taste that great but is easy to get down and I use it to supplement the protein I can eat. I have not made many protein shakes. I have the powder (Bariatric advantage orange flavor) but prefer to eat animal sources after i was able to start eating that on the later phases.

I used vanilla Premier Protein shakes as coffee and tea creamer. I tried Pure and other protein shakes and they didn't mix that well in hot liquid. The only other that has worked in coffee is MuscleEgg, their cake batter, chocolate caramel flavors are delicious!

Try blending yogurt, greens like kale and spinach, peanut butter protein, or and some fruit to change up your protein shakes.

I know I could handle skin milk. I will try the other flavor I bought (vanilla cream?) And another chocolate flavor, but I know how that's going to go :/.

The HMR shakes might be a bit pricey but they taste pretty good. I use the chocolate and vanilla flavors. Regardless of which flavor I make I add a tablespoon of PB2 and it is heavenly. HMR might not be pricier than others. It is the only one I've tried and really don't know the range. I was even impressed with the taste of their entres. I usually don't like the taste of diet food,.. especially 'fake' sugar,.. but again really like the HMR foods.

P.S. I don't sell HMR and have nothing to gain. Just sharing an opinion to help.

The protein issue is the only concern I have to date (hopefully the only one). I just received Unjury unflavored protein and mixed with ice and PB2 (powered peanut butter), equal and it was not too bad. I am looking for the nectar flavor ... I understand I hate the protein taste and am concerned.

Try EAS Advant Edge. The chocolate flavors are pretty good. Vanilla is gross. I know there's unflavored protein you can add but I haven't tried it.

Did you get this online? I've checked Albertsons, Wal-Mart and Walgreens and can't find the EAS. Today at Wal-Mart, I picked up a 4 pack of Premiere Protein chocolate shakes (they didn't have single containers), and will try tomorrow after its chilled. The only drink/shakes I could ever tolerate were Slim Fast powder. I'd add ice, non fat milk and a tsp of instant decaf ...but I'm sure there's NO comparison between slim fast and protein shakes.

Where can I find PB2? It sounds good and would taste great with the protein powder.

My surgery is not scheduled but it will be end of February or March -- if we can help each other on this journey that would be great

That would be WONDERFUL. My surgery will be as soon as I finish my last nutrition class, sometime in February. I put APRIL 3 as my surgery on here because I was assuming it could take until April, but I am hoping with the ball rolling now, it's end of March. I want it done before summer because summer's here in Las Vegas are excruciatingly HOT!

I have gotten them at my Walmart and the local grocery store. It is in the low carb/health food section. They also come in four packs.

I'm going to check the Wal Mart super center next week. I was at the Neighborhood Wal Mart grocery store and I noticed they don't carry a lot of what the super center does. The 4 pack I got today is packaged like this bottle you posted. It sure looks rich.
