Amazing Surgery

OK, so how the heck do they get that much stomach out of those little holes? My surgery was Monday - 12/12. Hardest part of all was not being able to drink anything the rest of the day. My mouth was so unbelievably dry. I finally talked nurse into letting me brush my teeth and that was the very best time I ever had brushing my teeth.

My surgeon was telling me Tues morning that he uses a long acting anesthetic both inside and I think outside on the holes and that you don't really feel the pain for a couple of days and by then the most of the pain is over. I had almost no pain and had a three hour drive home yesterday with no issues and felt very comfortable.

NOW I understand the sip and walk though. It is really tough without that.

As of 12/12 - no diabetic medications, no blood pressure meds and no statin drugs for cholesterol. Blood sugars twice a day are in the 100 - 120 range too.

Wish I had done this back a few years instead of waiting till I'm 71. Can already feel a huge difference.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Glad to hear your surgery and first few days post op went well. Keep up the walking and water sips and you will do great.

Actually -- they put your excised stomach (or stomach bits, depending on their surgical technique) in a plastic baggie and then pull the baggie out the biggest hole (mine was around the waistline). That way nothing catches or tears anything on the inside of your body or while coming out the hole.

And my surgeon did the same thing yours did -- put long-lasting pain-deadener (I forget the name of the drug -- used to remember it) on the incisions. I had no pain at all on the incisions either. Congrats. I liked that tactic.

Congrats to you. BTW, I was 68 when I had the sleeve nearly 2.5 years ago. I've lost 100 pounds and am now the hawtest 71-year-old mamajamma skinny bitch in the tri-state area.

Best of luck! Same day as my wife, her surgery went well, she has been up and moving every day. This morning I persuaded her to step on the scale, but not to look, I would be the only one to know. She is down 9 pounds, smiling....... Life is good, my surgery is 22 Dec, I really can't wait...

Thanks so much for all the good wishes. I was surprised this morning, I got almost all of a Premier Protein drink (11 oz) down in about an hour without any problems. Really happy about my progress. And I got all my fluids in yesterday too.

I am struggling with the protein drinks. They almost gag me now. I am trying to get all the liquids in, but it is a struggle.

How are you doing? Your date is getting closer. I am doing pretty good, except for getting all my liquids in.
