Went to the orthopedist today for my shoulder that's been killing me for the last three months or so. Prior to today I had seen my primary doctor who looked at my husband and said "just massage it for her." Fucker! I also went to urgent care where they gave me Percocet (I cannot take narcotic painkillers), Mobic (not supposed to take that since VSG, but been on 15 mg daily for a little over 2 months), and two steroid shots. Overnight I gained 4 or 5 pounds. It sucked, especially because it did nothing to help the pain.
So today the real doctor says I have arthritis and tendinitis in my shoulder that he knows of for sure. He gave me two cortisol shots - one in the front of my shoulder and one in the back. I told him I was super excited about waking up tomorrow at least 5 pounds heavier. He said "yep, that's you're problem. You're just too damn fat! " Then he said in reality being too thin is working against me in terms of my shoulder. So that sucks. Still not looking forward to those extra pounds. He also gave me a steroid pack, so a double whammy of steroids. Great! He upped my Mobic to 30 mg daily and that is concerning after reading the warnings on that about spontaneous GI issues that can lead to death. This pain has to go though. It is unbearable. I go back in 3 weeks. If these measures have not helped then we will discuss more invasive measures. So here's hoping the steroids and their added pounds do the trick this time.
