I stumbled upon this site and its awesome. I'm considering the sleeve in 2017. I've attended a few bariatric sessions at the hospital, all positive. I will meet with my surgeon in January, that I will know more. But right now I'm so nervous but excited at the same time. I know this is the right path, but its just the unknown. I hope that makes sense.

Soooo I went out searching and I found this forum. Wow, the platform is great, like minds share their life experiences, questions, frustrations, celebrations and best of all encouragement. I know from past "life" experiences that there's nothing more encouraging than someone who has walked the same path to encourage you. I know I will need that. I know some days will not be easy, but with your feedback and my faith. I know the best is yet to come. I will look forward to reading more and sharing too. God Bless

Hello & good luck to you as well! I also have considered WLS for a long time, went to an in-hospital consult years back but couldn't come up with the kind of money for a surgery in the U.S. and have a $5k insurance deductible. About a year ago met a woman who went to Mexico for the sleeve & at first I thought that seemed dangerous, but after researching I realized it's just like any surgery with possible complications, but I feel confident that the surgeons are very experienced with this surgery and are good at what they do.

I didn't want to make a brand new post so I'm just going to piggyback I'm really excited - I've paid the deposit and booked my flight! I can't believe it will be just a little over a month away, which I know will go fast because of the holidays. I'm going to make a goal to lose 65 lbs because that will put me at my pre-pregnancies/C-sections weight. The doctor said I only needed to do the pre-op liquid diet for 5 days but I'm going to start next week (since we're going on a short vacation this weekend), because I might as well get used to it since I'm going to make this a life-long change!

Good luck everybody, whether you're just starting out or in your maintenance phase, I know we all need it every day of our lives because there's so much temptation out there!
