The Ball is Rolling! First Doctor's Appointment!

Monday, I had my first visit with my bariatric surgeon, Dr. Hart, at Emory Johns Creek. I have to say, the information that I have gathered from this forum helped make my decision easy, and meeting with the doctor simply confirmed all that I have learned. He agreed that the sleeve sounded like my best option. My current weight is 343 pounds, but my BMI isn't as much of a concern for him or the nutritionist.

I am a teacher, so I am aiming for a surgery on June 2, 2017 so that I have plenty of time to heal and adjust to the new dietary restrictions. So stoked for this!

It is. I get really tired and my right foot is a wreck. It feels like the fifth metatarsal is going to pop out the side of my foot.

I used to substitute a lot and my wife taught Family and Consumer Science in middle school. I would try and perch on the edge of desk or a stool if one was available in the room. My wife is not overweight but got her three stools in her room so she could perch where she wanted to. We've always seen that the kids behavior was directly correlated to the teachers butt hitting the chair.

I've been on spring break this week, so I had my UGI, ECG, bloodwork, and psych eval. It's really starting to become a reality. I'm planning to have my surgery as soon as I can after the school year ends, so I guess I'll get a firm date now that all of the preliminary tests have been done.

Best of luck on your upcoming surgery! The 3 months I had to fulfill for insurance requirements flew on by and I remember going from test to test. My surgery was 2 weeks ago today and I can't believe it's over. I know it was the right thing for me to do. Your time will be here before you know it!

Good lu k!!! Post op day 4 I think being on here reading everything really gave me a advantage on why to exspect and how to push through ... nurses said I was their best patient ever that I just really pushed through... i appreciate them saying that but I wasn't trying to be the best I was just trying to heel myself the fastest and everyone says get up and walk on here and I listened and let me tell you it worked amazingly.
