    Default Pump that Iron!

    Today was weight training day.

Not as fun as last week, this time we were technically on our own after a few highlights and reminders. We had 6 sets of two exercises with weights or with our own body weigh, basically 12 exercises with 15 reps each and we had to do three sets. I got barely completed 5 sets (10 exercises) x 3 when the next class showed up. Everyone else in my class was already gone :-(

I had to do planks, and push up and bird dog something my peoples. Me!!! I had to bounce a 10lbs ball as hard as I could as I squattedpick it up in the air and over my head and then at 12th time I had to take off sprinting up the stadium ramp 3 times! AND I survived!!! And I'm here to tell the story lol!

I forget why I'm doing this... oh yeah! So next time I go to the beach with my grandkids one of them won't ask me "Grandma why do your legs look like THAT?!" Or "why does your tummy soooo big??? Do you have a baby, grandma!!??"

You gotta love them lit' evil bunnies!

Actually I'm doing it because I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired, and being a couch potato! I want to be active! Enjoy the outdoors the sunshine! Go hiking and biking and kayaking! And hopefully someday stand up paddle boarding and actually surfing! I took lessons many moons ago in another lifetime and my upper body strength to get on the board in the water was a joke!

So as I lick my wounds, I am committed to do it over again next week!

    Your doing great Shirl!
At 4 month I could only walk 3 kms, snail speed...and I was in a lot of pain (multiples injuries). Now at 8 months I can walk faster with almost no pain and I also do some gym/pilates but I try not to push too hard ....right now I'm getting ready for my morning walk!! 5 kms!! there's improvement!

I was supposed to start ballroom dancing lessons in July, I had to postpone because I was not ready yet...I think I will start in November when I come back from my next trip...that should be fun...

I actually went back to gym to do light cardio a week post op. After a month I got really drained with energy so I just stuck with walking most days.

This program I joined is for sedentary individuals, most of us are overweight or up in age. Really it's not as bad as I make it. They are really patient and encouraging with us.

I'm sure you will find a program that will work for you.

    You go girl!

I was (finally) able to go down the water slide with my grandkids last month. It was thrilling! And it felt great to be able to swim with them and not run out of energy.

    Thanks for posting!

Seems like a great program! So far besides starting the danse classes in November (dragging hubby there! it's my birthday gift!), I won't do much more than walking and some videos at home. The reasons being that I'm not fluent in Chinese and didn't find a place where they are fluent in English....besides the danse studio....so I'm planning on starting something different from May, I should be back in France for a while, they have a new swimming pool in my little town, they have "aquagym" and "aquaspin" so if I can find a suitable time for the classes, I will do that....But I'm amazed I can walk so much now, I remember one year ago how tired I was...what a difference 8 months make...

Those are all the same reasons I wanted WLS....to get back down to my "play weight". Fortunately I am surrounded by two mountain ranges, national forests, rivers and two national parks (Grand Teton and Yellowstone), so I just bypass the middle man....haven't stepped foot in a gym in over 20 years. I hit the trails with my dog every weekend, either on foot or on my horse. This winter I'll be on those same trails with skis or snowshoes. I'm in my kayak on the Snake River or Teton River Whenever it's warm enough. Spent Labor Day weekend hiking above 9000 feet in Rocky Mountain National park. But being 900 miles from the nearest ocean, I'm not likely to get on a surf board anytime soon

Keep up all the hard work....you have very worthwhile goals!
