Ezekiel - You're counting the protein shakes as part of your 64 oz? I'm new...but I would suggest doing at least 64 on top of your shakes. I make up a 1/2 gallon of herb tea in the morning and my goal is to drink all of that by the end of the day...on top of my 2 30 g protein shakes. That has helped me a ton with seeing the scale move.
The problem that hit me was constipation. I was having 2- 30 gr protein shakes...plus bone broth (more protein) plus cottage cheese (more protein) plus yogurt (more protein). One day I calculated over 100 g of protein. Then constipation became REAL!!! It was horrible. So...now I'm backing down my protein and focusing on really keeping my water up...100 oz is my goal. Now I am better. Seriously...It was worse than any of my 4 kids' childbirth!!
Good luck everyone!
This works, I promise. Keep doing what you're doing. It makes no sense to eat nothing and not lose, but it happens to almost all of us, especially in the beginning.
Hide your scale!!!!!

Quite a few of you are in that 3-4 week mark where every single person who has surgery stalls for a week or more. It's your body going into shock and trying to put back on water while the protein builds back up into your system. It's super frustrating but completely normal. And for the ladies, your hormones are going crazy which can lead to PMS bloat and period stuff too. Good times, right?
Just had my first real meal 28 days post op:
1 scrambled egg - no butter
2 oz. of homemade black bean hummus.
Took me an hour to eat it. I actually set the plate down after the egg and dozed off for about 20 minutes, then ate the hummus.
I am not at all hungry but so far so good on keeping it down. It was delicious too - may as well been gourmet food. Although my calories will fall to 416 for the day per MyFitnessPal, I won't be able to eat anything else plus somehow have to get down 16 more ounces of water before I go to bed.
The hummus gave me 10 carbs for the day so I am hoping that gives me a bit more energy for tomorrow morning's working.
@ AnnCan. My nutritionist told me I could include the water in the protein shakes. They are not pre-made but a powder that I pour into 16 oz. of water and shake.
Thanks for all the great advice in this thread and thank you Sarcastic-Bard for that encouragement. I needed to read that from a sleever from a thread I was a part of to believe it.
Relax, Breathe, Sip, Walk. You just had MAJOR SURGERY!
Stay positive! A positive attitude goes a long way.
I had several severe complications, spent close to 3 months in hospital, had 5 additional surgeries, died and was miraculously brought back twice. I take it One Day At a Time. It's the only way I can live life anyway. I enjoy EVERY MOMENT!
Stay OFF the scale and Tape Your Butt (This is a GREAT post by Numbers)!
Best of luck as you continue your journey!
