    Default Biotin

Does any one have any recommendations for a Biotin supplement to take to prevent hair loss? I've heard that it's common to get hair loss and want to try and avoid it. I also am curious about tablets vs capsules I know it's a dumb question but are we not supposed to take one or the other ? Thanks in advance

So soon after surgery, I prefer the sublingual vitamins. I get sublingual biotin on Amazon and take it with sublingual b-12 plus folic acid from GNC. My hair and nails are better than before the VSG. Amazing.

Biotin won't prevent hair loss. Nothing will, except MAYBE, making sure you meet or exceed protein goals every day. But even that's not proven. Basically you are going to lose or not....it's not in your control. The biotin will likely help with regrowth though.

I started taking Biotin along with a Bariatric multivitamin and calcium at night about a month before surgery. My hair did improved, but not as much as my finger and toe nails! I also don't know if it was the Biotin or a Just Natural Oil for hair loss I started using way before that has made my hair shinnier and fuller. I'm pretty sure it has been the oils and shampoo I use.

Check it out I love their oils http://m.justnaturalskincare.com and they are having a 20% that's ending soon.

I was taking a lot of meds before surgery so this was a big concern of mine as well. My doctor told me not to worry about it that I would be able to take my same meds with no problems after surgery. I thought he was wrong because of everything I had read on the interwebs about it. Turned it he was pretty close to being right. I did however get most of my new vitamins in a chewable format where possible and my Biotin is in a dissovable tablet that I just put under my tongue and it dissolves in no time. I have been lucky to not lose much hair but part of me thinks that is because I am losing so slowly, 1 to 3 pounds a week. My hair feels nice.

I was able to quit taking a lot of the meds I took prior to surgery so that helped too. I have found that capsules are much easier to swallow than tablets, depending on the size of the tablets.

I was scared of the hair loss too, but I haven't had an issue with it. I've always taken Biotin however and continued to take the max dosage afterwards. I found that a lot of the do's and don'ts are mostly precaution and not necessary. I would always lean towards the stricter guidelines, but after some research I found out I was making myself a lot more miserable trying to obey by all the restrictions I was given when in fact they were not necessary. The hair however is truly a thing that if it happens it's going to happen (it will grow back, it will just take time) and if it doesn't it doesn't. Biotin is good for hair and nails regardless and is a benefit even if your hair gets thin. It will definitely help with texture and thickness when regrowing if you do lose it.

    I use Barimelts.
It helps with regrowth. I also take prenatal vitamins.
