Default things that don't taste disgusting

    Hi all,
I am having problems finding a protein drink that meets my needs but doesn't make me gag and thoroughly sad that I will have to drink it for life and longer. lol Also any vitamin's that also do not taste unfortunate? Can we take Flinstones? This also goes for calcium. I tried bariatric advantage and that is one big no for me.
    Thanks

Have you looked into unjury protein drinks? I hear alot of good stuff about those. Ive been using Isopure strawberrys and cream mixed with almond milk. Not gritty and mixes very well in a shaker. Tastes good to. Also I saw some vitamins on bariatric pal. I guess you would call them transdermal? its a patch. Maybe someone else will chime in and give you some more ideas. Hope this helps.

Have you tried Tera's Whey? The chocolate is not great, but I like the Bourbon Vanilla. My surgeon advises Flintstones chewables with minerals twice a day. Hang in there!

I take a Flinstones chewable twice a day; my bariatric coordinator recommended them. For calcium I take calcium chews in chocolate or caramel flavor. I take them at night so it's like having a bit of chewy candy at the end of the day.

I use Premier protein shakes; my coordinator said this brand can be poured into hot coffee or put in the freezer to make a sort of slushie. Is that a potential option for you?

My nutritionist and dr recommended rainbow light mini tab vitamins. They are smaller and you take 3 a day.
Always talked to your Dr about what vitamins are good for you though.
Mine was against gummy vitamins and chewable flinstones/centrum.
For shakes I switch it up between the pre-made premier protein (chocolate and vanilla) and body fortress powder (chocolate or cookies and cream with almond milk)
I also like the unjury chicken flavor as it tastes like chicken soup and its a change from sweet.

I use unjury protein shakes they are great only the chicken soup flavor can't get as hot as I would like or it has lumps that don't disolve. My nut recommends for the first 2 months 1 Flintstone complete chewable twice a day and 3 chewable Caltrate a day not taken at the same time as the flinstones. After 2 months switch to Centrum complete for adults not the men's or women's. Also I switch to Citracal.

Why do you have to drink protein shakes for the rest of your life? I'm about 5 1/2 months post surgery and haven't touched a protein shake in months. While I know some people prefer to keep drinking them to easily meet protein requirements, there are other ways! Once you are able to eat normal foods again, you can get all your protein needs from food with little if any supplements. I do drink a glass of fairlife fat free milk every day (13 grams of protein), but it's just milk. Nothing funky there. I generally get 100 grams of protein a day. If you want to supplement what you eat at meals, there's always the option of eating a protein bar (or a portion of a protein bar).

As for vitamins, I was told to use Flintstones for the first 2 months after surgery, then, once my stomach was pretty much healed, I was switched to a regular adult vitamin - I take currently take Centrum, but prior to that was taking One A Day. Depends what's on sale!

For calcium, I started on the soft bariatric calcium chews, but again, around two months, I was told by my bariatric center to switch to calcium citrate (which I think only comes in pill form) which is absorbed by your body much better than the soft calcium chews.

    Hope that's helpful!

Premier is delicious. The vanilla tastes just like what I remember a vanilla shake to be. So are the Unjury products. I mixed the unjury chocolate splendor with a bit of peanut butter and milk...tastes like a melted Reese's! Lol. And if you mix it with 4 ozs of water or milk it thickens into a pudding.

I just liquified a cooked chicken breast today....mixed it with liquified veggies, some milk and cheese. Not a bad soup.

Cupcakewaffels I saw those vitamins on bariatric pal. I was thinking about getting some myself cause I hear it's so hard to find a vitamin to agree with you after surgery. Just slap a patch on and your good to go.

I've been using PatchMD vitamin patches for months. My levels are perfect! My Dr and Nut are pleased, and I'm delighted I don't have all those pills to take or chew.
I drank Isopure daily pre-op and couldn't gag it down post-op, or any other flavored protein drink. Nectar unflavored did the job...mixes with everything.

I use Sytrax Nectar mixes - Have used - Chocolate Truffle, Vanilla Biscotti, Cappachino, Cookies and Cream (all with milk) Lemon Tea, Fuzzy Naval, and a few sample flavors (with water) I have also used the Premier shakes and Muscle Milk in a pinch when I'm out. I find if they are cold it's not a problem. I have used Lucky Vitamin for the Syntrax tubs since they were best price at the time and used Bariatric Pantry for lots of sample packs of drinks including coffee drinks as well. They have sampler packs of the syntrax mixes so you don't have to buy a huge tub to try them out!

I am not affiliated with any of the companies - just sharing my experiences!

Best of luck and hope you find something that works.

Labrada makes Lean Body on The Go....premade and store in the pantry. I buy bulk online....can't stand protein powder. Walmart carries it if you want to try it but it's cheaper online and delivered to my door. Sugar free and 25 g of protein. No aftertaste either.
