Does it matter if you are using the pre packaged protein shakes instead of the powder? It seems like the ready made are thicker. I am wondering if that is going to be a problem right after surgery. Thanks
For two days before surgery and one week after surgery, I have to use a plain, unflavored protein mix. I had to choose between Unjury, Jay Robb, or Isopure. I'm 5 days post-op right now and I have being using the powder isopure mixed with flavored vitamin water.
Be sure to check with your doctor on what types of protein shakes you are allowed the first week.
I am two weeks out from surgery and could add protein shakes at day three post-op. I personally prefer the vanilla powdered protein (Shaklee Life) in water to the premade ones. I admittedly didn't try very many premade ones beforehand, but the ones I did try I didn't like, the chemical taste is just too overbearing. But my powder I can mix with water, my powdered vitamins, and SF vanilla pudding mix and change it up flavor wise as I choose. I can even mix it in yogurt if I choose. Because of my doctor's timeline for clear liquids I never had to worry about a clear protein.
Good luck to you on your journey.
My doctor said I could use either, but if I used the powder with skim milk that would be adding even more protein. I'm not a shake person so I dread having to drink these protein drinks... I will have to find a way to make it taste somewhat appealing . Good luck to all~~
I use protizyme (chocolate or vanilla) and mix it with water. I have also made a blueberry muffin shake using vanilla powder and blueberries. I tried the ready made drinks and didn't like them
