I'm almost two years (October) and things are great. I lost all my weight in about 9 months, 75 pounds. I have maintained it. I can eat more than I could early on, so I counteract that with exercise. I love to work out, and I feel I owe my maintenance to exercise. I'd much rather eat a little more and exercise, than stick to a strict "diet" and not exercise. Works for me, but I'm sure it's different for everyone.

I will say maintenance is more difficult than losing.

Surgery was in Jan 2012. I met goal, w/o any complications and no exercise. In fact, I didn't start exercising until this summer. I think the biggest things for success are ensuring your head is fully committed to the outcome and following the food guidelines. Eat your protein first. If after your protein, you still haven't eaten 3 oz, then add some veggies. Listen to your body! Don't overeat. Make sure you stay hydrated, sip, sip, sip. (I always have something to drink with me, still.) No soft drinks!!!

If you ever start to feel like you are eating too much, do the 5 day pouch test. It will get your tummy back down to the size it needs to be. Best Wishes!

do you have a lot of excess skin? Does exercise help to eliminate that?

2 1/2 years out. Maintaining below goal (100 pounds lost) for almost 2 of them. The key to maintaining is the same as the key to losing....protein and water and mindful eating. It gets harder the farther out you are. Less and less about your sleeve and more and more about your head. I could easily eat enough to regain at this point, so it's pretty much just a mental war at this point. A war that has to be fought every single day.
