I had trouble with water initially also. I found herbal tea to be the easiest way to get my fluids in.

I have always liked a squeeze of fresh lemon in my water. I don't know if we can do that after surgery or not (acidic) but maybe a more subtle flavor will help. (Crystal Light can be pretty darn strong!) those liquid drops (like Mio) might work. You can control the intensity of the flavor.

For some people (including me), water is an acquired taste. Some people love it and can guzzle down a gallon a day, but I must work to get my 60 ounces in. I don't make it to 60 ounces every day. However, the more you drink water, the more you become accustomed to it.

I transitioned into water by starting with drinking sugar-free juice drinks such as Diet V8 Splash, diet Ocean Spray cranberry juice, and sugar-free Snapple. Once I was able to get my fluids in through sugar-free juice drinks, I slowly started adding water.

Congrats on the weight loss so far, I haven't had the surgery yet and still don't have a set date, but tea might help and I have heard you can take the alo vera leaf and strip it down, and that helps with settling the stomach and decreasing stomach pains, gases, etc...

I cut up some larger chunks of fruit & put them in my water bottle. It may take an hour or so to get some flavor into the water, but it really helps. Even mild fruit like apple or pear will do it, if you use fruit that is a little under ripe the water stays clear. I just leave the fruit in the bottle for the day & keep replenishing the water. If you cut larger chunks they stay in the bottle & don't try to pop up through the cap you drink from.

I love lemon but the acidity can bother my stomach. I've tried cucumber after someone here suggested it, it really is good too.

Some people buy a fruit infusion bottle, I didn't want to have to buy something more this works fine for me.

Hot herbal tea is a great suggestion. I'm currently in love with decaf peach / ginger tea. Lately, I make a big pot of it every day.

My other add-to flavors to help me get my water in are Mio drops, Diet Snapple cranberry juice (very low cal), just a little apple juice, decaf coffee (with hot or steamed milk).

I also find that bottled waters, e.g., Dasani, are easier for me to get down than tap or well water. (I do recycle all the plastic bottles.)

I'm one of those guzzlers. Many years ago during my diet roller coaster, I acquired a love for water. I can easily drink a gallon a day if it is hot or I'm working hard in the house. I am so afraid I am going to be thirsty after my surgery. So I have the opposite problem as you. I love the Mio drops too. There are so many different kinds of squeeze bottles with different flavors. Grape is my favorite. I would do like someone else said. Start with a small amount of flavoring until you get the right taste. I hope you find something that works for you.

Before surgery, water was my go-to beverage! Loved water more than anything else. After surgery, water kind of makes me feel sick just thinking of drinking it sometimes. I still drink some plain water every day, but had to do unsweetened green and black teas, low cal juices, etc to get my hydration in. Don't know why my tastes changed, but I think I am slowly getting back to my "love" for water.

I had a lot of trouble with water for a couple of months. I liked the Crystal Light at first, but then got kind of sick of it. When I saw my doctor this past week, his assistant suggested drinking something like G2 (sugar free Gatorade) or Powerade Zero to help get fluids down, since although I can drink water now, I still don't usually get to the 64 ounces a day I'm supposed to be drinking. I also like the diet Ocean Spray cranberry mixes as well.

I hated water before surgery and it was even worse after surgery. Then I discovered Orange flavored Mio water enhancer. I drink over 100 ozs of water everyday. I love the stuff (I always have a glass with me).

    Best of luck to you!

Another thing that might help, if you like ice. We got a counter top ice machine and the cold temperature really helped with my fluid intake. Many models for around $100 and a size that doesn't take up too much counter space. jI had to try several things before I found my solution to fluid intake. I too loved soda and now I don't miss it one bit.

Keep trying, you will find your solution.

It took a very long time for water to be refreshing to me again. I used propel and started drinking tea, which I HATED pre-op.
