We had a wonderful weekend. My mother, my son, his wife and their two kids and I spent four days in a beachfront condo at Ocean Isle Beach. I had no idea how much fun I'd have. I rode the waves on a little Styrofoam surfboard, ran barefoot on the sand, played bacci ball and frisbee, all in a swimsuit without feeling self conscious. Just to be able to do those things, playing with the kids without getting tired, was priceless. I hadn't realized the difference in my whole ability level. And my family was absolutely thrilled. At one point, Jamie (my son) put his arm around me and whispered, "Mom, this is awesome. I'm so happy for all of us." How cool is that?
