I know this may sound crazy but maybe you should "cheat." I feel like when I get in a stall I go and have a slice of pizza or mexican that night or just eat whatever (without making myself ill) I want and within days the scale has gone down. I asked the surgeon about it and he said your body gets into starvation modes and just won't let anything go. He suggested upping the calories too. I guess I had technically already been doing that with having a fun night. I agree with everyone else and you should stop weighing yourself everyday. I have come to terms that this is going to be a process and will take time so I weigh in at most once a week. After all, loosing it slower will give your skin a chance to catch up a bit with the weight loss…might not have as much sagging skin this way too!

You guys who are now working out hard for the first time in decades are just building new muscles. And those suckers are not weightless.

However, going forward they will help you lose more weight than if you had never built them because they burn more calories than fat does.

You are "getting there" toward goal the same as your lazier WLS buddies. You're just taking a different, healthier route.

I know this is a scary thing but have you tried adding some fat and increasing your calories? It seems like your body has "gotten used to or adjusted itself" to your routine. Just a thought. Also, you could read some posts on stalls.

My advice is to look at the long game. I get worried when people start exercising like maniacs to try and control weight loss.

Try and separate exercise from weight management. Exercise because it builds strength and fitness. Trust that the surgery and eating right will lose the weight, even if it's not as insanely fast as you would like. And exercise for the enjoyment and achievement of it in relation to strength and fitness.

This is not a race. It's a permanent lifestyle change. Exercise how you plan to for the rest of your life, with time for other things. Otherwise you just muck up your metabolism again when you slow down your exercise.

And if you're only eating 1000 calories and burning off at least 400 a day in exercise, you're probably putting your body into starvation mode because that isn't enough for just basic stuff plus the additional needed for exercise. Your body may well be madly hanging onto weight because it's wondering what the hell is going on.

I took up triathlon, and running and netball since having the surgery. But I did it gradually, and I did it with those goals in mind, not weight loss.

You have some very good points. I would love to think that I will exercise 5 days a week for the rest of my life, but it is doubtful. I am not working right now, so I have the time. I never thought about what will happen when I slow down on my exercise. Thanks so much.

Lifting weights three to four days a week should get you where you want to go. You can do a split routine, upper/lower or do a full body workout three days a week.
