    Default Does it get better?

I'm three weeks post op . I had revision from the lap band to the sleeve. I can barely handle anything. I only drink water and protein shakes and sugar free popcipopsicles. I try the cream soups but they just make me nauseated, I think its the thought of it . I'm just afraid that after I heal I still won't be able to eat meat and salads and whatever else I want . Because when I had the band it was hard for me to eat anything healthy.. And the acid reflux does it ever get better ??

Hang in there it will get better and try to set small gaols. We didn't do all the damage over night and it will take time to repair it.
I set daily goals and didn't expect anything that way I wasn't upset when nothing changed. Good luck and let us all know how it goes. Elaine x

Are you taking an acid blocker? If not, I suggest trying to get a RX for one. It does get better with time so hang in there!

As Elaine mentioned, It does get better. I was sleeved on 1/7/14 and at the time it seemed so long before I would get to real foods. However, within a few weeks I was feeling better and I attribute the key in following the advice of my medical staff. Now, I am on post-op day 3 for plastic surgery, I have six drainage tubes that have to be emptied 2-3 times per day and my whole body is sore. However my experiences with sleeve surgery has helped me understand the pain and discomfort I am feeling is only temporary. Hang in there and hopefully you will feel better soon.

It does get better. It could be the acid reflux that is causing the majority of your issues right now.
To cope with the acid reflux start taking Prilosec each morning for at least a month.
My physician prescribes the prescription version of Prilosec (omeprazole) for all new sleeve patients for the first month.

It gets does get better. I can honestly say I was feeling a little depressed at around 3 weeks and around 4 weeks I was amazed at the difference already. I think the first month or so things change almost daily. When I first tried cream soups and yogurt and stuff, I couldn't tolerate it very well. I waited a few days before I tried again and made a big difference.

I am going to say that you shouldn't expect eating to feel the way it did pre-sleeve for a while. I am just now getting to the point where I feel sort of "normal" when I eat (I am about 5 1/2 weeks post op) but my "normal" now isn't anything like my "normal" from before. I eat a VERY small amount, go very very slow, and stop as soon as I feel restriction. Depending on the food that might be as little as two bites or maybe as much as 10 or more. Just depends...obviously softer food like yogurt and cheese goes down a lot easier than meat. But I can honestly say I am super happy with how I eat now. It is more than enough where I feel satisfied.

Just give yourself a little more time and see what happens. I think in another week or two you will be amazed at how much better you feel. Oh yeah, and definitely see about a prescription acid blocker. I have a prescription for Prilosec that I take daily and my doctor has me on it for at least 6 months. It's standard procedure for him...he prescribes it to all his patients. Good luck!!
