Default Fleur de lis vs lower body lift/tummy tuck

Hi, I'm looking at having a tummy tuck/lower body lift and am unsure whether to have a fleur de lis incision or the usual one lower down. I've been told that the fleur de lis has better results for the ab area and around the back as it pulls skin from around the waist and lower but you end up with a vertical scar that is visible. My consultant has said that he can achieve good results with a normal tummy tuck but will take the incision further round the back (lower body lift) to achieve this but that the results from the fleur de lis would be better.

Has anyone had the fleur de lis and can you tell me what your scar is like? Would you bare your stomach or do you feel the scar is too visible and unsightly?

Thanks for any advice as I'm struggling to decide which surgery to have.

I think it depends on what your priority is. Do you want to have a completely flat stomach with all excess skin removed? If so, you may need a fleur de lis cut, as pulling down on the stomach skin is not always enough(as it grew in all directions, kind of like a balloon blowing up and pulling it down can only address on aspect of that). You will trade the removal of the skin for the more visible scar. Or, is a small amount of skin left worth not having the larger, more visible scar? That is a personal decision, in my opinion and there is no right or wrong answer. I would get at least three surgeon's opinions on what they feel they could do for you with either type of surgery and base your decision on those medical opinions and your own preferences and priorities. Personally, I am just a month out from having a lower body lift. For me, this was the best option.

    Following...

I just had my fourth consult--I'm 'shopping' around to find the best in regards to a TT. Two of the surgeons recommended this technique--albeit they didn't call it that--but would leave a vertical scar. A vertical scar doesn't bother me; I don't plan on being in a two piece swimsuit (in public at least) and I don't care if my husband sees it. One said a full lower body lift. Another said extended tummy tuck with lipo.

I am curious what you decided to do. I am trying to research the differences, outcomes and pictures to determine what I am going to do myself. Please keep us posted!

Get as many consults as you can. There's another website exclusive to PS. You can even post a pic of yourself with your question and doctors will provide you with their opinion. The website is realself dot com. It has been a big support to me in my mommy makeover journey.

I had a fleur de lis about 9 months ago. Love the results but have one nasty looking scar. Certainly no bikinis in my future!

I went with a friend of mine to have her lower body lift done in Mexico. She received the regular incision, but also received abdominal stitching during surgery and her results were amazing. At one point in time she was over 330 lbs, so they removed like 13 lbs of sagging skin from her abdominal region. Later on we went back and reviewed her surgical video, and I have to say that the ab stitching was incredible. The surgeon explained to us that doing this gives a much better result and provides female patients with a much better outcome of obtaining that hourglass shape.

Not sure if you were asking me, but the surgeon that I was referring to was Dr. Cardenas. I plan on having a thigh lift with her, hopefully next year after having my next kiddo.

Dr Cardenas is on my short list for a TT and lipo.
I am impressed by her results.
The recovery boutique is also well run.
I need to find out more about her surgical facility.
For the gastric sleeve I opted for a major hospital due to general anesthesia and being in MX. Anyway, I just sent photos to Dr Cardenas for the procedure next year. Still looking at Dr. Cervantes and Dr Salvador Medina at Hosp Angeles and Dr Victor Gutierrez.

When my friend went she operated at the Pompeii Surgical center. I want to say that the place has like 6 or 7 recovery rooms and 2 operating rooms. Its a really nice place. What really won me over with her was that her coordinator has had both wls and has had 2 tummy tucks, so she really knows how to help with people seeking plastics that were former bariatric patients, and they gave my friend a video of her surgery to show the progression of the whole process. I can't even explain what seeing he ab stitching was like, on the video it looked like she just took like 8 inches of ab and shrunk it up to like an inch or two kind of like a corset. He claim to fame is that she does a lot of things that male surgeons don't really think about doing for the female patients, such as the stitching of the abs, and on my friend she also cut away some of the underlying fat on her pubic region so that she wouldn't have this nice flat stomach and then that puffy pubic region. She also dedicated a lot of time to the lipo portion of the surgery. I think she got something like 2 liters of fat just off the back of my friend.

Previously I had looked into surgery with Dr. Milla before. I went to a consult with him last year when I was having my dental work done in TJ. I still think that he is a really great surgeon, but Dr. Cardenas just won me over when she explained her approaches to working on female bodies. After I saw the video of her work, I was just sold.

There are a few pictures up on the pompeii website that show some of the facility, not many, but if I can find some of the ones that my friend and I took while we were down there I would be happy to send them to ya.

I will have to check that out and see if they have any thigh lift patients on there. I want to know how bad the pain is.
