Thanks Luann for the valuable tidbits. I forgot about a thermometer. Did you use the scopolamine patch and when did you apply it? I have one patch and was planning to apply it the night before I travel home.
Each anesthesiologist uses their own cocktail to prevent nausea and vomiting. Based on my history, I requested 3 different types either right before or during surgery. They can be costly so I want to make sure that I will get them. Hopefully this will minimize this side effect. I have generic Zofran small tablets but not the dissolving ones so I hope I can use the if necessary. They are real small and cannot be crushed.
Oh well, I am sure I will find more stuff to pack. Thanks!

I put my patch on the evening before flying home. I don't remember for sure, but I think I just had the one left over from a cruise. Even if I had an extra one to use in the days before, I couldn't have. I was really dehydrated & felt like I was having more runs of PVCs, something I had a lot of at the time but thankfully just about no problems with now. I had the dissolving tablets but you can bet I would have found a way to make them work either way. I was so sick & twitting out at one point I even forgot I had them with me - I was in pretty bad shape at one point in the hotel. I knew I was brewing an infection. Anyway it all turned out fine in time - just rough for a while. I hope your recovery is trouble free as possible.

Any last minute advice for my May 21 sx date with Dr Corvala at Hospital Angeles. I am going solo and Spending 4 days at hospital and 2 at Hotel Lucerna.
I sent all my labs and consult reports to them. My coordinator told me to just show up and meet the doctor, anesthesiologist, nutritionist the nite before surgery and oh yes, bring my credit card.
I Read the pre op booklet
    Got all post op meds
Bringing extra pain and nausea meds just in case
Heating pad, chap, stick, Biotene, Isopure RTD, electrolyte drops, small pack of bandages, thermometer.

If anyone will be at the hospital or hotel at the same time, I invite you for a cup of decaf tea.
I must be missing something. If not I give all the credit to the posters on this site. Thanks y'all.

Well wishes for you for your surgery. Please post updates after to tell us EVERYTHING. I am jealous. I have started the process here to try to get my insurance to cover it in the states. If that doesn't work I will be traveling to mexico early next year to have it done, which is the soonest I could do it anyway in order to pay for it. BUT I am keeping up on everyone to get the best information and suggestions. I will use corvalla or OBC. OBC is slightly less money with as great of results and reputation. ANYWAY enjoy your journey! You made it!

OCC and Corvala are both excellent. Major difference is the hospital vs surgical center package. I just posted in the full service hospital thread which is interesting since we all have different expectations.
Almater Hosp in Mexicali is also a full service Hosp.

If you are allowed to have clear liquids, etc up to a point before your surgery, i.e. not having surgery the same day you are flying out - it might help to pack something you like. I brought jello packs, actually some supposedly healthier type of jello - no artificial color, organic, lol. That and chicken broth packets in case I didn't like what the hotel had. I hated their chicken broth, thought it smelled strong like old arkansas chicken so I'm glad I had my own stuff. That was good for the day before - all bets off for the few days post op because I was so nauseated. TSA gave me no trouble about the jello. They did tear off a corner of what I brought on the plane & tested it for explosives, lol. The stuff in my checked bag got through intact.

Good to know, thx. I will be arriving in San Diego around 1 PM and the surgery is the following morning. No pre op diet required for me but I will be doing clear liquids the day of travel including Isopure RTD protein drink. I don't have any lab testing to worry about since I had them completed already at home.
Nerves are starting to kick in with May 20 travel day rapidly apprpaching. Yikes!

Just had my last nite so it is less than 24 hours. Everything has been flawless. Very professional staff, docs, coordinator, more nurses than I have ever seen on a unit. Zero pain and mildly uncomfortable gas. Sucking on ice chips today with an IV for hydration. Getting leak test tomorrow morning. So far so good. Details to follow.
