How long before my hair starts falling out?

I'm 4 1/2 weeks post-op and did not consume very much protein for the first 3 weeks (which also showed in my weight loss). Now that I'm able to eat things like beans and lentil soups, as well as truly tasteless protein, I'm doing much better. However because of the lack of protein, I'm wondering how long it will take before I start experiencing hair loss?

Are you taking the vitamin Biotin? If not, go and get yourself some. You can't take the capsules, but what I was told to do is empty them out into something and take it that way. Believe me the biotin works. When I had the lapband a few years ago, my hair fell out so much and was thin. I started taking biotin 5mg about 6 months ago and my hair has gotten strong and long. I was lucky I got a head start. The doctor told me that women should take it so that the hair doesnt fall out.

my nurse practitioner, who has been sleeved also, recommends 5000mg Biotin along with Zinc to keep your hair from falling out. I had been taking 1000mg Biotin and upping my protein and did not see a difference. I started today with the bigger dose and Zinc and will keep my fingers crossed!! I'm a little over three months post-op and started noticing the hair loss about two weeks ago. I'm ready for it to stop.

Why can't you take the Biotin capsule? Does our tummy not process, or you can't swallow it? I have been swallowing it just fine, but now I'm wondering if I need to do something different to make sure my body is absorbing it properly.

Changing the subject but did you find a truly tasteless protein. I have unjury and it is horrible it makes my stomach hurt. I also bought
the unflavored but it is yellow and almost smells like vanilla. I am looking for a clear and truly tasteless. If so what kind is it and where can I find it?

UGH. Glad you posted this. I've been reading all the testimonials about Unjury and I was going to order some tonight. I've been burned SO many times buying stuff I ended up not liking.

Does Bariatric Advantage make unflavored protein? My doctor's office sells some BA stuff, but the protein is either in shake or Nectar form.

I have tried a few different "unflavoured" proteins and so far Unjury and Beneprotein have the least taste. My husband figures it's all in my mind, but I can truly smell and taste it. I've hit the point where I've only lost 23 lbs and am worried about my hair, so I figured I'd best suck it up and get something working - and attempt to not vomit. I only have one smoothie a day and get the rest of my protein through foods, so I know I'm not 80-100 per day, but I'm doing the best I can. My progress will just be a little different than some others. As for where to get the Beneprotein, you'll have to google it; I found a distributor in Canada although some sites won't sell it unless you're a medical professional.

Speaking for me personally, I'm just tired of shakes and vanilla and chocolate, and the Nectar has too much of a "whang" for me. I want something I can add to savory since sweet has never really been my thing.

I am only 2 weeks out and my doctor's office told me to open up the capsules (I do this for my biotin and my omeprozole) and mix it with something. I think it is just while the stomach is healing. I also was told to cut up my pills that I take. Other doctor's may say something different.

Unflavored protein can be added to anything, that is why the unflavored. I am an UNJURY advocate - I swear by that stuff. If your unflavored has a taste please call or write to the UNJURY people---perhaps you got something that was a bad batch? Also---be sure when using UNJURY that you test the temp and be sure it is 130 degrees or lower---I honestly do not know how I would get my proteins in without it.
