I found 2 brands of tasteless protein Isopure and Pure has anyone tasted theses and are they truly tasteless because I am not getting nearly the amount of protein Im required to have.
thanks for the tips on protein... I'm looking for options.. found the Unjury site, looks like a good product and folks here on the board seem to like it!
Supersmile, when you put it in soup, does the texture change? Unjury seems to warn not to put in liquid warmer than 130 degrees.
I'm vegetarian, but eat some fish, so protein is a problem for me to begin with, going to need supplements to support for sure!
I've never tried it in soup...hmmm. It's getting cooler here in Georgia so I'm seeing some veggie soup in the near future....yum!
I just ordered some Bipro which is also flavorless. They had two types one for night time and one for all day eating. I havent tried the night one but the other was flavorless, I just have issues with texture so if you use the full serving amount I swear I could tell the difference but it might be my mind playing tricks on me.
If you order Bipro and put Trae in the coupon line it takes 3$s off. She is the nutritionest in my doctors office who suggested it to me
I am waiting for the Unjury to arrive, however have also found Beneprotein. It's made by Nestle and truly has zero taste and zero smell. Thus far it's working quite well. And to use protein with hot liquids, just mix it like a gravy. Smooth it with cool water and then slowly add a couple spoons of hot soup - mix and add back to the soup and stir until blended.
Unjury does get a little chunky in soups and I usually have texture issues, but it doesn't bother me. They have a chicken flavor that is good for soup. Some people think the chicken flavor is too strong, but I like it. It did hit me as really salty yesterday. But that is kind of a nice break from all of the super sweet stuff I have been eating.
I use the Isopure Unflavored, but believe me it is not tasteless. It has that distinct whey protein smell and taste. I try to just ignore it because I need it to get the required protein. I do find that you have to stir it quite a bit, first its dry and lumpy, but as the liquid absorbs, the whole thing becomes soupier. I tried to make an egg salad with it and it became egg salad soup, quite gross. Its good in cottage cheese though.
I think I smell like protein powder. No one has said anything, but I am pretty sure I drag it around with me. It is for the best in the end, but I would rather smell like daisies.
You can purchase a food thermometer for like next to nothing at Wal Mart. I think that God gave me UNJURY because he knew I would throw up at anything that stinks---even a little. (I am telling you STAY AWAY FROM PROFECT---taking the lid off of it will clear a room). I test all my temps and have no problem with UNJURY---BUT I have never added it to anything that was over 130 degrees.
The Unjury unflavoured and chocoate showed up yesterday and guess what?? I have put a whole package in with my smoothie and there's NO taste and NO smell. It's amazing! I'm finally going to start getting the protein I so desperately need! Today is a great day!!!
