I had gastric sleeve on july 1st and only lost 18lbs can someone tell me what Im doing wrong or is this normal?
Up your protein and exercise! then let us know!
I'm 6 days out and I only lost 2 lbs I'm sure it will come off just give it time. After all we gain much faster than losing. Like Zetagirl said the more you have to lose the quicker it will comes off. It's a journey, keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure you will see results another thing you could be losing inches and not pounds.
Well, 18 lbs in 5 wks is really nothing to sneeze at! That's 3 1/2 lbs a week. 1/2 lb a day. I'm thinking that's really pretty good. I was told to expect an average of 2 lbs a week, perhaps more at first as I started higher. So it would seem you are right on track...
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.
I've hit a plateau too. I haven't lost any weight for almost 2 wks. I haven't gained any either. I am tweaking my meals by eating more steamed veggies and fruit but I haven't been exercising like I should so I know that would really help. My clothes are really feeling loose but the scale isn't reflecting. I went to my doctor last week and she said that I didn't have to go back for another 6 wks and that I would probably only lose 10 to 12 pounds in that time and that would be normal. I hopefully will lose more than that!!!
wow, it seems you are not doing anything wrong but everything right! that's a lot of weight in six weeks! Were you able to do that pre-sleeve? My surgery was 6/23 and I've lost 13 pounds and although of course i wish i could lose all my weight yesterday, i'm thrilled with losing 13 pounds thus far!!
but maybe I'M the one doing something wrong. LOL

If you do weight lifting it will tone you as well as help increase your metabolism. Watch your salt intake so you are not retaining water excess water. Honestly the only way I can lose weight is to eat food in its most natural form. Meat that has not been processed and try to find hormone free. Veggies that are real and comes from the produce section. Skip sauces but rather make them from seasoned sour cream. Try to keep your carbs really low. I hope that the sleeve will help me stick to those things by removing the hunger hormones... cut me now! cut me now!!!
Good luck!
Weight lifting will add muscle, though, which will make her metabolism burn calories faster and give her more lean muscle mass, something we need to worry about losing on the very low calorie diet that the sleeve demands. More muscle mass=burn calories faster, lose more weight, loss of muscle mass (your body eats muscle rather than fat for energy) means slower metabolism, lose less weight. I DO think it's a mixed bag when limiting your calories so much, though, muscles need energy to grow.
That said, 18 lbs. in just over a month sounds great to me! Nina's breakdown of the math is nothing to sneeze at.
I told my doctor I had plateaued for a week and he said I should be losing about a pound a week. Then he looked at my chart and said "You've lost 16 in two weeks... I would say you're ahead of schedule..." He said I am losing fat every day, it's being replaced by water weight and food fluctuations. In other words, shut up~
