Default US to MEXICO SLEEVERS - Lend your Advice Please

There are so many posts in here about going to Mexico - I see it's less than half the cost; but I have many questions. If you would possible lend some advice - I would greatly appreciate it:

1 - Who was your doctor?
2 - procedure performed in a Hospital or Clinic?
3 - What was your experience like arriving and leaving?
4 - Do you have to travel to Mexico for any PRE or POST Op appointments?
5 - What about traveling alone - or is it ok to have someone with you?
6 - How quickly could you schedule your surgery?
7 - I read about the 2 week Pre Op Diet all Liquids - what about Post Op Diet?
8 - if there happens to be any complications - how well is it handled in the US?

Thank you in advance if you are able to respond =o)

    1.Dr Cabera at Hospital Angeles.
    2. Hospital. (Cost of surgery included five days. I used only three.)
    3. We drove from the Midwest to San Diego. They had a driver pick us up and drop us off at the SD Airport, where we left our car.
    4. No, although we were required to have a check-up and bloodwork done by our doctor to prove we were healthy enough for surgery, and asked to go on a 6-week preop diet. Yeah, you read that right. Six weeks.
    5. My sister and I got sleeved together. My father came along to drive us home. He stayed in my room, on what the hospital called a day bed. Really just a padded bench. He was on a diet at the time, eating pretty much protein shakes (made the trip really easy to all be eating the same stuff), so I don't know about meals.
    6. I think it was 2 months from scheduling to surgery, but we had to get passports and see our doctor, so we needed the time. In the meantime, we must have contacted the hospital a dozen times with questions.
    7. My post-op diet was one week of clear liquids, one week of full liquids, one week soft foods, one week pureed foods and then slowly introduce regular food. At six weeks out now, I can pretty much eat anything as long as I chew well.
    8. No complications, but my doctor here was very supportive about Mexico and said there would be no trouble if I needed to come see her for anything.

I am going to be sleeved at Angeles in TJ, Mexico because I am a self-pay. I have family in San Diego and she and I will go to TJ together and she will be with me. I get to see my sister and get sleeved. I am looking forward to both. I have heard great things about Angeles, except for the beds.

I went a lone. My Doctor was Dr. Alejandro Lopez. I went to Puerto Vallarta, and the only reason there, never been and wanted to see it. I had surgery in a brand new hospital where only American and Canadians go and it was awesome. I stayed at a beautiful ocean front resort that had a Clinic on grounds. Mine cost more because of the location and hospital but I still saved 10,000.00 and my Doctor here was great. I also had to do a 14 cleanse diet for my liver. I signed up in Feb and was there in March. Would do all over again Good luck!

U don't have to see ur Dr for a year.... I had my surgery on July 22 and have seen my Dr one week after, then a month, then 3 months, and I got in 3 more months. I have also seen my nutritionist 2 times. I also had back surgery on October 1 and my Dr came by to make sure I was getting enough protein while in the hospital. My friend also had the surgery in August and her Dr does the same followup schedule.

    Thanks for the information.

1 - Who was your doctor? Almanza in Tiajuana
2 - procedure performed in a Hospital or Clinic? Jerusalem Hospital in TJ...actually a large clinic
3 - What was your experience like arriving and leaving? No problem at all, they are a well-oiled machine
4 - Do you have to travel to Mexico for any PRE or POST Op appointments? Nope
5 - What about traveling alone - or is it ok to have someone with you? I travelled alone because this was my secret. About 1/2 there had a companion
6 - How quickly could you schedule your surgery? Ten days from decision to operation. I think I was a bit faster than most.
7 - I read about the 2 week Pre Op Diet all Liquids - what about Post Op Diet? A month or so of soft food. Gradually adding in stuff. I'm permanently addicted to Mexican citrus popsicles now, though.
8 - if there happens to be any complications - how well is it handled in the US? That's the biggest issue. Most surgeons will refuse to touch a "medical tourist" if something goes wrong. Thankfully, things very very seldom go wrong.
