A drug called meloxicam (NSAID) after having this surgery? I had surgery July 23,3013. I was prescribed this yesterday for tendinitis. I'm hoping I can as I need some relief from this pain but I'm afraid to start. I emailed my surgeon but have not heard back yet.

I was told that I couldn't take any type of NSAID...just wait until you hear back from your surgeon. I do hope you find relief for your pain...

This you will not get a straight answer to here. My doctor allows them after one month (NSAIDs). I too take meloxicam and have had no issues. Ask your doc! Good luck.

You need to wait for your surgeon to tell you what to do and even then you need to be careful. If I remember correctly Meloxicam is just generic Mobic. There is actually another med that is the same nsaid but it's covered it basically nexium. It's called Vimovo? Not sure if it's still on the market but pre op I took it for a bit. I ALWAYS had trouble with meloxicam even pre op.

You aren't going to get straight answers on a forum because some of our surgeons say that YES we can take them post op and some firmly say no. I know that with my surgeon I opted for the sleeve based on being able to take nsaids if I needed to because of spinal issues. So def wait to hear back from your surgeon.

I would recommend discussing this with your doctor. One of the reasons why I chose the Sleeve was so I could take NSAIDS and I'm slowly finding out that some have doctors that said NO to NSAIDS. It depends on your doctor and what he/she recommends.

Some Drs. say no because that is the rule with Gastric bypass and MINI GB so they use that for all their bariatric patients. My dr okayed after 2 weeks. Dont want to thin blood too much when you just had surgery. So a little for the insides to heal.

I would ask my dr as others have said. My dr said no to those type of meds. I am only allow tyenol.
