So sorry to hear your posts. You seem to have been through a lot. I hope this forth coming surgery sorts out the hernia and you sleeve. What you ate eating sounds way too excessive. There is no way I could eat half of that. Somethings not right.
Good luck and stay positive. No long now xx

I also had a band (2007) and lost close to 100 lbs. I had restriction - bigtime restriction. I had my band out eight weeks ago due to problems that started during my pregnancy. I had a sleeve done not even three weeks ago and this doesn't feel like restriction at all. I, too, am worried because I can eight 6 oz. of yogurt already with no problems whatsoever. I feel nothing when I drink - I do not have to sip like I did with my band. Did I do this for nothing???

OK, I'm scheduled for 9:00 am on 8/3 for gall bladder removal, hiatal hernia repair and who knows what for my sleeve. Dr. Hargroder said he will just have to evaluate it when he gets in there. So I could come out with a new sleeve - made smaller by basically redoing the cutting/stapling, or made smaller by plication, or nothing at all done! I'm a nervous wreck! I hate to get my hopes us and come out with nothing! I am not looking forward to the 4 - 6 weeks of liquid/soft foods (already been there done that twice)! But I am really hoping that he finds there is a reason for my lack of loss and ability to eat so much. It is either a physical reason or a head issue. Boy, won't I be embarrassed if he finds nothing wrong! That will mean that I have managed to out eat my stomach! I guess we will soon find out!

Hi, I am somewhat living your story. I got my sleeve surgery on 10/7/11 and I lost 50 pounds within the first 2 months but have not been able to lose one pound since, I have felt hungry everyday since my surgery especially when my stomach was completely healed. I never feel full for very long and I can eat anything nothing bothers my stomach I try not to eat things that are bad for me but I still have not lost anymore weight. On my 1 year anniversary of my sleeve my husband told me he was very disappointed in me because I had not lost my weight within a year of my surgery and suggested that I must not want it bad enough. He said if he had gone through the trouble of having 85% of his stomach removed that he would make darn sure he lost the weight. Several of his friends from work wife's have had the surgery and they brag about how much weight they have lost but not me I feel better than I did before I lost the 50 pounds but I am still FAT. I am seriously thinking about having the bypass but I am not sure I have been to see my surgeon several times and he just tells me I need to excersise. I am just lost and feel quite alone and would appreciate you sharing anything you have done to help your weight loss since your post. Starting weight before my surgery was 279 current weight 229 better but my goal is 145 I am 5' 1" tall.

I am so sorry to hear that! I know exactly how you feel. I wish I had something encouraging to tell you but I don't. I struggle constantly. I think I lost 20 lbs total. It is so frustrating. I did try a low carb diet (Dukan) and lost pretty good on that. I thought I would never have to diet again, but that is the only way I can loose. Good luck to you!

Did they ever fix your sleeve? I also had success (100lbs) with the band but I had a million miserable complications and gained back 85lbs. Anyway, so far I love the sleeve. I hope you are doing a lot better!

Monica, I have lost a good amount of weight, but only because I diet every single day. I thought I'd given up dieting when I got the sleeve! I cannot go over 800-1000 calories or I gain weight...and I get hungry! From day 1, I could chug water and eat much more than I hear other people eat. I also have thyroid issues and metabolic syndrome. Have you had a complete work up?

There's a lady on another site that had the band, then had it removed for the sleeve. She had lots of scar tissue and had to go back in for a sleeve revision to "tighten" it up. She has lost 90% of her weight after the revision. I wish you all the best. Keep us posted on your surgery.

    Good morning,
I stumbled on your post when I was searching the web for anyone that is in the same situation as I am. I am coming up on 2 years since my gastric sleeve surgery this October. I was also a self pay and started at about 210 lbs and 5'2. After the surgery I got down to about 177 but have since gained slowly back to 200. I am SO frustrated. I exercise and eat carefully (though I'm not an extreme dieter or exerciser) and I can't stop the slide back up. My surgeon is always disappointed in me so I have stopped making appointments to see him. He seemed at a loss for what to do.
I would very much like to know how your journey is progressing and if you found a way to successfully lose the weight and keep it off.
    Thank you,
    Sheila

    Monica,
I'm so sorry to hear everything that you've been going through! Let's hope that once your surgeon gets in there that he can make the adjustments to get you back on the road again!

Very interesting to hear these stories of people who (for various reasons) have been disappointed in their sleeves.

I appreciate those who are posting on this thread. Thank you.

I had the Lapband back in 2008 and had nothing but health issues from day one. I had 2 surgeries then the third was the removal. I initially lost around 40 lbs but once it was gone the weight came back. The next step was the sleeve 3/2012. I lost 10lbs before the surgery and 25lbs after. I worked so hard ate right but had no restriction, hired a personal trainer, walked, did it all. 25lbs is all I lost. I gave up and have now gained it all back plus a few (5lbs). After long consideration I am considering a revision. I spoke to my surgeon (who all along wanted me to do the bypass) he said he put in the 40 bougie and maybe it was to large for my stomach. He is no longer in my state so I will be meeting with a new surgeon in the next week. I'm so afraid of being a 3 time non loser. I have seen a shrink, considered hypnosis, Ate less in the process of going gluten free. I can't fail again.

These are very sad stories. I wish you all success in attaining your dream goals!

"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
