Angry 5 months out and I've stopped losing!!!!!

I need help from everyone who can give it. I am only 5 months out from surgery and my weight loss has come to a halt. I have be the same weight for the past 6 weeks. I was expecting to hit a plateau at some point during my journey, and I already have at month 3 so why am I not losing now. I have become so frustrated with this that it is causing me to regret having the surgery although I am aware that the 78lbs I have lost I would still be caring if not for the surgery. I am trying to stay positive but it so hard considering I have to watch the success of others that had surgery during the same time as myself. Please can anyone tell me what I need to do to start losing again!!!! Just so you know, I eat between 900 and 1100 calories a day and drink 4 liters of water a day and I also take my vitamins daily...what am I doing wrong???

How many grams of protein are you getting in a day? Have you incorporated exercise into your program (even if just walking)? What are your eating patterns like (i.e. do you have breakfast and 6 small meals a day, or are you having snacks and then larger meals)?

You are doing awesome! I can only imagine how frustrating it is to hit a plateau for that long. Are you tracking your foods and possibly chatted with your NUT? If tracking your foods, you may want to see what has changed and go back to a time when you where still losing and try those foods again. You may even consider add/bumping up your exercise. This could possibly help to kick start the weight loss again. Definitely not an expert, but some things I would try if in your shoes.

everyone loses at a different rate, check your daily intake of food keep a journal, you can have more than one stall, check your water intake and your protien also, dont compare yourself to what others have done each journey is different for each person..

78 lbs is AWESOME, so don't sell yourself short. Sometimes bodies go through weird adjustment phases when losing weight, as I'm sure you've seen. Are you keeping a food journal on Myfitnesspal or something along those lines? Are you minimizing the carbs? Are you eating 60-80+ grams of protein per day? Are you exercising? Some people go back to the basics for a week - liquid diet, for example - to jump start their loss again. Have you tried that? Maybe your thyroid is out of whack or you have some other imbalance...have you had a doctor in South Carolina monitor your progress by doing blood work to check the metabolic stuff, iron, etc? Sorry to ask so many questions...hope you find an answer soon!

You are doing GREAT, so do not get discouraged and try to remain focused on the progress you've made.

I, too had stalled to a creep at approximately 5 months and I needed to get refocused. I downloaded a great Amazon book onto my Kindle that Adrienne referenced. I actually read the book in one day, I thought it was that great. The book is very helpful for me and it may or may not be for others, but...I think the advice in the book is great.

If you look back at my last 4-5 posts, you'll find a link to the book, which you can get from Amazon. The name is, "The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients" and here is the link: The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients (3rd Edition): Colleen M. Cook: 9780974017938: Amazon.com: Books

The long-and-short of the book talks about Success Habits for those who have had Weight Loss Surgery. The author herself had surgery and the book focuses on the "rules" or "habits" for getting the weight off and keeping it off.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. The one thing I like MOST about Ms. Cook's book is how she compares the LONG-TERM weight loss surgery journey as similar to the journey of an alcoholic or drug addict. Every day counts. Every day is a matter of personal accountability and choices. Some days are gonna be easier and better than others. "Goal weight" shouldn't be the goal but just a part of the journey. Keeping the weight off is what matters, etc, etc.

The book helped me refocus on 1) personal accountability, 2) dense protein choices always...FIRST...followed by veggies and really LIMITED CARBS (my danger), 3) fluid responsibilities (includes not drinking with meals), 4) exercise, 5) vitamins and 6) PORTION CONTROL always!

Anyhow, hope this info helps. Just stay focused and recognize you embarked on a life-long journey...not a brief trip!

    Best wishes.

I wish I has some advice, but I don't. I just wanted to say that you are doing awesome! I hope you figure it out and start losing again. Have you spoke to your doctor about this?

You and I are just one day apart. I 'm from South Carolina too. I have slowed to a stop, but I am losing inches. I do believe I will start losing again, until than I am going to keep my water( 90 & 120 oz. a day) and protein( 60 & 80 grams.) up. I had a back injury I'm in pain and when my back hurts my knees hurt and I have not been as active. I think that may have something to do with me slowing in my weight loss. Being active is a must to keep losing weight. So stay with your plain we are not done yet. As for me being sorry I had the surgery? NEVER.

Protein has definitely been an issue for me. I absolutely despise protein shakes so I try to eat as much protein as possible by eating fish and nuts and some meat.

Thanks for suggesting that I get my levels checked. It never even dawned on me that i could have a chemical imbalance but even if I don't it is still good to know what is going on with my body internally. I have not been tracking what I eat although I will begin since so many have suggested that and I try to eat no more than 80 gms of carbs per day...should i decrease this??? I have been exercising but I will try changing my routine to see if that helps.
