Hi! My name is Cathie and I am a newbie here. I am a 31 year old from Buffalo, NY. I am a part time college student and full time caregiver for the developmentally disabled. I have been overweight my entire life. I have never known what it is like to be a healthy weight. After mulling over it for the last 4 years (and trying absolutely everything to try and lose weight), I have finally decided to get wls. I decided that the sleeve is the best choice for me after a friend recently revealed that she had it done last year and is doing very well. Many friends that I have that have had other types of wls have not been so successful. I have researched the sleeve to death so far and have gotten as far as to fill out my paperwork to send to the surgeon. I plan on getting my bloodwork taken and my psyche eval done soon. I've at least got the ball rolling!

I am so glad that there is a forum like this! There really seems to be a sense of community and support here! I hope to make new friends and be supportive of others while I am here!

I live in Rochester. We r almost neighbors! I am eating for my surgery. It took me 4 years to decide to go forward and I am scheduled for 9/10/13

We are close! If you ask me, you and I couldn't live in worse cities for healthy eating haha. I am happy to hear that your date is close! As you can see I also took four years to decide to do it. It was a tough and scary decision but i am sure that we will both be glad that we made it! Please post about your experience when you get out of the hospital!

Indeed! Especially with all the food festivals that come around haha. I'm sure it will be a challenge, but what isn't? haha
