So I am 4 days post op and I regret my decision. I miss food and would do anything for a real meal. Is this a normal feeling?
Hey there - sorry about your struggles. With that said, they are very normal. I was not hungry for a few months, not even mentally, but MANY users here report those head hungers you are experiencing. The first 4-6 weeks are toughest as you adapt to a very different relationship with food but still have the old body. If you hang in there, I promise that in a month or two your body is going to look really different and you are going to start getting compliments and that will help you progress. Then your sleeve will heal more and more and you can have reasonable portions of really delicious foods. But right now it sucks so hang in there and you will be glad you did it!
I felt the same way on days 1-5 but today day 7 feeling pretty great! Still a little stitch on my left side but all and all feeling human again! So tell yourself I will give my self a week and then see how I feel. I thought in my head well some people are back to work 3 days later. I just am not one that bounced back fast...but I am ok with it. Best of luck and remember every day it gets a little better!!!
That is indeed a normal feeling..and as others have said...it does get better w every passing day. And the further along you get and can eat more normal foods you will feel even better
I was I swear starving the first like week and a half the protein shakes and water weren't cutting it for me..... then week three was better then started pureed and still doing that for another week and a half then finally real food. It gets better I promise. I do get slight hunger now but even drinking something takes it away.
Just know it gets way better. The first few weeks are the toughest by far. Good luck.
Oh my gosh, I am soooo glad to see this! I am still 8 days pre-op and hating this liquid diet and feeling discouraged now. But as long as I see comments from folks that have made it through the doubts to the other side, I know I can do this.
Thanks so much for updating your original post!
