    Unhappy Soooooooo Sleepy!!!

12 days post op. I am having the hardest time sleeping and i am soooo tired. I had my lortab elixir that was helping me sleep before, but that's all gone now. I thino its thr sleeping on my back that is making it so difficult. I normally slept on my side, but still find it a little painful to do so right now. Tried taking liquid benadrly tonight and well its 3:30 am and I am still awake!!! Everytime I tried closing my eyes to go to sleep it felt as if my skin was crawling. I got so frustrated. This makes day 3 of very little sleep, I couldn't help but stary crying becausei was so aggravated. My crying woke my husband up who tried to help but it didnt do any good. Any thoughts or suggestions on what would help or what I can take to help me sleep!

I am so sorry for you. You really sound miserable. I'm only awake for work, otherwise I would be sleeping right now. Have you tried Melatonin. I don't know if it comes in a liquid but it might be worth investigating. I have used it when I have trouble sleeping during the day and it has really helped. Another idea is you could wake up your husband and get him to give you a foot massage. No I'm not joking and I'm not crazy!!! You just need something to really help you relax and get sleepy. A foot massage is very relaxing if you've never had one. Just a couple of thoughts for you. Hope you get some rest.

I am 4 days post-op. I have found in order for me to sleep on my right side, left side is not happening at all, I have to prop my belly up with a small pillow. I roll on to my right side and the hubs helps me put the pillow in place. Hope this helps.

I am 12 days post op too and struggling to get quality sleep as well. I too am out of my pain meds and Tylenol doesn't quite cut it! I am slowly getting a bit more sleep each night. My trick is PILLOWS! I am a side sleeper which is incredibly painful with 6 owies on my tummy. When I go to lay on my side, the weight of my belly pulls on the wounds especially the grand daddy one right above my belly button.

Sleeping on my back is really the only position that keeps my tummy most comfy but I.just.can't.sleep.like.that!!! A few nights ago, I put a pillow under my tummy when I layed on my side and one behind my back. I leaned back a bit on the back pillow so I wasn't truly on my side but RELIEF!! With the pillow supporting my sore belly, I could actually fall asleep on my side.

I got 5 hours of sleep last night! So far that is my record. Other than that I nap in my recliner to make up for the other hours.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I tried the pillow and still didn't get much sleep. I finally went in for my follow up and the Dr. Said it was okay for me to use my zzz quil. So now with the help of that I am able to sleep on my back, I still wake up a few times but it is nowhere near as bad as it was before. My pain is gone. All I have is a little soreness on the incision above my belly button!!!
