    Angry The 3 Complaints I can't stand!

Hello everyone. I am on here frequently.. Reading posts.. And I have to say there are three complaints/attitudes that I can't stand hearing about on here. Sorry for the rant but sometimes you have to tell it straight.

    1. The "oh I just got sleeved a few weeks ago and I've stopped loosing weight.. What's wrong with me??!" Well first off obviously you did not read the hundreds of other posts from people complaining about the exact same thing! Stalls are normal and they will pass. If you think the weight is just going to fall off overnight you are sadly mistaken.

    2. The "when can I eat pizza/drink pop or other *insert obviously unhealthy meal item here*??" Really you must have missed the part about this being a lifestyle change! If you continue your same eating habits you are going to get your exact same results. Just because you have WLS doesn't mean all those empty calories you choose to consume are just going to disappear. Your setting yourself up for failure.

    3. The "I've stopped loosing weight.. Oh by the way I DON'T excercise" ok now this one seriously bugs me. I am pretty sure EVERYONE was given the same information about adopting some form of physical activity after getting sleeved. It's required to help you loose weight, tone that saggy skin and maintain your weightloss when you get to goal.. If your telling yourself "I just don't love exercising" then you are FOOLING YOURSELF. No one loves excercising! It will get easier after a while and more enjoyable sure. "But my bad knee/shoulder" oh boo hoo everyone can do some form of excercise even if its just walking or even chair excersises. If a 30 year old man born with NO ARMS AND NO LEGS can find it in him to play golf, swim, and play soccer then I'm pretty sure you can do some form of excercise! (See attached inspirational video)

So to sum up my rant.. NOTHING WORTH DOING COMES EASY! It takes work and the right attitude to be successful!

Agreed! Especially the stall ones. Sometimes when you go to the "Latest Activity" there are 4 or 5 posts about stalls right in a row! Step back from the scale, people. Staying the same weight for 2 days in a row does not make your surgery a failure

Sadly there are people who think of WLS as the easy way out. For some, the weight just melts without any exercise or without watching what type of food they eat, the portion control itself takes care of the weightloss. For the rest of us, often then not we will need to watch what we eat and exercise.

I hope surgeon sets realistic expectations (such as weight gain after IV fluids, stalls, weightloss rate slows down) for their patients.

If people were able to exercise and diet in the first place they wouldnt need the wls anyway..this is an open forum for people to compare notes, so to speak, and get advice so if its so bothersome to see the same common complaints maybe this isn't the right forum for you? Just a thought... there were no rules about complaints when I joined lol and not everyone has a thourough explanation of what to expect, sadly...sometimes our surgeons are not available right away so we come here to ask our questions. Its comforting to find some people go through the same issues/feelings that you do. Everyone will find their way and what is best for them but along the way we may need some friendly ears to hear us

    Well said Cathie!
WOW! SKgirl, are you having a bad day? That was totally uncalled for! Just like Cathie said, this forum is for people to lean on eachother, and if they are having a stall they feel better talking about it and hearing from others. I know I've posted about a stall. No one forces you to read them, you simply chose to. Lets all just be here for eachother. To motivate, give advice (especially us veterans) and support. I'm here to help anyone with whatever the issue is. Best of luck to all my sleeved friends!

    Rose

Not that I disagree with you, but it's easier if you just don't read the posts that you know are going to annoy you. You can pretty much tell by the titles what's what. Just a thought.

Rose, you and Cathie are a little bit right. It is a support group. BUTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!! I hear where skgirl is coming from. Support is one thing but people not even making the effort to research their own issues is another. Come on. A stall is a heartbreaking thing but 2 days of the same weight and publishing it is just whining not looking for support. Bitching about the scale not moving fast enough when they are averaging 5 pounds a week is not a slow loser it is a fricken whiner. You will see when you have been at this for a while that the same whining comes through almost daily. NOT that we aren't entitled to whine or ask silly question, the issue is when people don't do research and just want someone to give them the answers.
IS PIZZA REALLY NOT OK TO EAT? MY DR SAYS NO FRENCH FRIED TATERS "EVER" DO YOU THINK IT IS OK? MY DR SAYS NO HEAVY EXERCISE FOR 6 WEEKS BUT I HAVE BEEN DOING HARD CORE WORKOUTS SINCE DAY 7....DO YOU THINK IT IS BAD? I FEEL HUNGRY, AM I THE ONLY ONE?
OK really good questions but they are asked every day and the answers should always be the same....LOOK IT UP, if your DR gives you directions then you better damn well follow them and not look to others for an easier way out.

I think most of us should use this forum as a "safe" place. We need an outlet to express ourselves, rant, vent and share our journey.

It does no good to judge, point fingers or belittle anyone. We are all in the same boat here.

I completely agree with you. My "favorite" are the "can I lose weight without exercising" posts. Yeah, you can, for a while and then a lot of you can gain it back.

Anyway, I do try to be non-judgmental and supportive (not always successful) so sometimes I reply encouragingly but more often than not, I follow Lee's advice and ignore the posts that I can tell are going to be a repetitive pet peeve of "this surgery is a failure because I haven't lost weight in week."
