    Default Energy levels after surgery

Ok so I have been reading everyone's posts for days now and my main concern right now is about what kind of energy will I have after surgery and when will I get to a point when I feel great? I'm a patient care tech for a hospital and I work on my feet 12 hours and sometimes without a break. Sometimes I care for up to 16 patients and when I get home I almost collapse. I just want to be strong and I'm worried. Any experienced feedback would be appreciated.

i am 2 weeks post op surgery, and my energy level is very very low !! I cannot tell you when you feel great , because i am still not on the top yet.. I do not have pain anymore, but i tired and my body still have to heal... You can't eat very much, and that makes most people tired and without energy... But we are all different and some people maybe up on the run a week after surgery.

Oh my, that's kinda scary. I'll just have to take it easy at work for a while. Just don't want to pass out on them.

I would get up each morning to see my husband and daughter off to work and school. Would watch a little TV and was back in bed doing about 2-3 hours of sleep. I was never a nap person, but literally I had no energy and would get up only to lay back down. About 6 weeks later after I was able to eat regular and had all of my vitamins in my system, I had noticeably more energy than I knew what to do with. That's when I started to work out a couple of hours each day. Good luck to you!

Talking Re: Energy levels after surgery

With any surgery, you will be sluggish the first week or two before you start feeling any way "normal' BUT you have to also factor in your low calorie intake and the fact that you are adjusting to a new lifestyle. Take is easy as much as you can but also move around as much as you can before you have to go back to work so you can build up your endurance.
    Warm regards,

I had NO energy when on the liquid diet, pureed diet I gained a little more energy but I really didn't start feeling great until I could start eating normal food again. I took a lot of naps at first while I was off work and I never napped before. After going back to work, id come home at the end of the day and take a nap also.

I took a few naps week 1, but was back to work at my desk job week 2 without a noticeable decline in energy. I had low energy due to weight related health problems and taking lots of prescriptions when I started this process to begin with. Ditto what miss_t said though, I really started to feel great as I advanced my diet. If you have a physical job, you may need a bit more time off. Now that I have 50lbs off and have been able to quit most of my meds, I feel like a million bucks!

Don't worry about hurting my feelings because I guarantee you not one bit of my self esteem is tied up in your acceptance.

I went to work after a little over a week off and it was tough. After the second week my energy level went back to normal for me and I work 10hr days. I was also worried about that post surgery but was relieved, I made it through no problems
