    Default Help!!!!

I had my sleeve surgery on April 8. Since surgery I have only lost 20 pounds. I have no thyroid since I had it removed because of a tumor. I also have PCOS so my metabolism sucks!! I believe out of frustration, I have not been perfect with my diet ( too many carbohydrates) but still keep my calories at no more than 1200. I have been exercising about 2-3 times per week. Please, please if any one has any ideas how I can get things moving again?? I am very committed to getting myself healthy and will do whatever it takes to make it happen!!

    Thanks in advance,

    Michelle of Wisconsin

Michelle, I think you answered your own question. Drop the carbs.

    Hi Michelle,
I don't have answers for you, but I do have suggestions. 1) Try eating healthier carbs (I don't know what carbs you are eating) and 2) try the post- op diet for a week to jump start the weight loss. The real answer would probably try talking to your surgeon. I just started my pre-op diet, so please let me know what works for you if I get stuck.
    Good luck
    Lisa

    Here's some suggestions:

What are you actually eating? Try to keep a journal of everything you eat and how much. You may be eating more than you think you are.

Eat only three meals and two small snacks per day. Don't graze. Avoid "slider foods".

Drink at least 80oz of fluid per day, preferably water.

Get at least 8 hours of sleep at night.

Not getting enough water or sleep will stop your weight loss in it's tracks. So will grazing...because we're really bad at keeping track of what we eat while grazing and our small stomachs don't feel as full when grazing.

    You can do it!

I had my surgery about a week before you on April 1. I am only down 12 to 14 pounds depending upon what day I am weighing. However, I am grateful not to be gaining weight anymore.

I know I am eating much smaller portions and much healthier foods. I am exercising a little and while I was gone recently out of state, I was able to exercise a few times on the hotel's fancy treadmill.

I think the key to more quality weight loss is accountability to someone and writing down everything you eat, even if you don't count calories -- just write EVERYTHING you put in your mouth -- like a checkbook every time you spend money.

I keep a chart, I write everything down that I put in my mouth, including tracking my vitamins and meds. I figure if I ever have a problem, the surgeon's office can look at my chart and see what I've done wrong/right. 1200 calories is probably too many for you right now, and carbs are your enemy. Stick to protein and lots and lots of water. Best wishes! It is frustrating when it is slow coming off, but it will come off. You are 2 months out, down 20 pounds - that is 10 pounds a month. That will be 60 pounds in 6 months. Be happy!
