Default Back to my old bad habits!

I have had my sleeve in July and did very well. Lost about fifty pounds, and I was so proud of the progress I made. But here it comes; In the last 3 months I have not lost anything and have gotten back into my old habits of eating "crap" food. Fast food especially.I also noticed that I am able to eat more and don't get full fast like I used too.
Did I stretch my pouch? Any suggestion to get it back into shape? I thought maybe I should get back to the pre-op liquid diet?
Now it is happening what I was afraid of _ THAT I SCREW IT UP. Please help all suggestions would be helpful
I need to get back into the swing of things

It sounds like you need to go back to the basics. Have you been attending any group meetings? I know that they are very helpful I have not even had my sleeve surgery done yet, but I have been going the meetings already and have noticed that I am making more healthy choices. First off I would not eat the fast food, it is fast in your mouth but it is the worst thing for you. Are you still tracking what you eat? If you have not been doing a food diary, I would start. I currently use myfitnesspal.com . They have a great food diary on line for you to use and its free. It shows you how many calories, fat grams, sugar, carbs and protein grams you are getting on a daily basis. I don't know you but I think that it would be good for you to have accountability for what you eat. I don't know if any of this is helpful or not but only you are the one that can make the change that you want to make. Good luck.

You have to go back to the beginning and start over, follow all of the rules to the letter. The reason you can eat more before getting full is because you are eating crap. Carbs will slosh around with your stomach juices and break down much faster, bet if you tried to eat a chicken breast or other protein you would fill up much faster again. Don't screw it up, it isn't too late!!! You know what to do and you know that you can, because you did it before...now go, do it again!!

I think the most important thing is to not get discouraged....just take it one day at a time....keep moving forward. I think you have come to right place for encouragement. I don't think you need to go back to the liquid diet, I just did that a few weeks ago and liquid diets are horrible. I think it would make you miserable. I think it would be best to pull out your dietician's guidelines and maybe go back to the 6 week post op diet? Where your still eating regular foods but very small amounts. YOU CAN DO IT! Have faith in yourself hun and don't give up! I LOVE this quote "IF YOU WANT THE RAINBOW, YOU MUST PUT UP WITH THE RAIN." -D.Parton the way I see it, sure its been raining for a little while, but the rainbow is right around the corner and I believe you can find it!

Your not the only one who's done this, so don't be embarrassed to speak to your doctor about it. Personally I think you are right and going back on liquids for a while should help, but I have very little experience with this. Don't give up! You can get back on track. I am sorry for what you are going through. I know how scary it is. As for fast good, the best thing I have ever done to avoid eating junk is to have healthy foods ready to eat at all times. All veggies washed and cut and ready to eat. Healthy frozen meals in the freezer. Best wishes. Can't wait to hear when you are back on track!

My surgeon explained that it is not as easy as people think to stretch the sleeve, since they normally remove most of the stretchy part of the stomach. Depends on what size bougie was used, though. He uses size 34. It is normal for the sleeve to stretch about 10% but not more than that. I personally don't want to test the theory though and I try to concentrate on the signs when I'm confortably full. My advice for you is to leave the past in the past and start fresh and new today. You can't change the past but you can move forward. Mabye also meet with your dietician or your psychologist for help and advice to get back on track. Find a support group meeting and start attending it regularly. I also highly recommend the book called The Emotional First Aid Kit - A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery. It is a very good book. You can buy it from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc. Try walking and finding a walking partner to help keep you accountable with the exercise. Don't like walking? Maybe a dance class or Wii Fit would be fun. Best wishes to you. You CAN do this! Think positive and make a plan to get back on track today!

You have already taken the first step to getting back into the groove...you have acknowledged that you need to make positive changes to get where you want to be.

My first suggestion is to make an appointment with your surgeon, nutritionist, and /or your psychologist. These three people can help you in so many ways.

However, if that is something you would rather not do I recommend talking with a close friend, spouse, loved one, etc. The person you choose should be someone you trust and someone who will help you in your quest to be accountable.

There is no need to get down on yourself you STILL have the tool. You just need to go back to your "roots". Perhaps start keeping a journal that chronicles your daily habits from exercise to food intake to your day to day emotions. When we write about ourselves it allows us to see from the inside out, which can be extremely therapeutic.

These are just a few suggestions. Just please do not give up...your goal is within reach...but you have to want it bad enough that your willing to do the work!

    Best wishes!

That is WONDERFUL!!!! ok ok hear me out... i look for the positive in things. good news? I heard alot in your post ""back into my old habits of eating "crap" food. Fast food especially"" "" I am able to eat more "" ""don't get full fast like I used too"" and the very best news i heard in your post .... ""THAT I SCREW IT UP"" wyhy in the world is this great news you say????

simple ... because you are aware exactly what your doing!!!

being aware of not being on the right track and caring s more then half the battle in my opinion now that your not only aware your off track and that its making a difference but you even know what your doing to sabotage your weight loss.

bad news? now that you know.. you just gotta go back to it being important again.. you cant let the size of your new tummy determine how much you put in your mouth or what you put in your mouth because your body is now starting to allow you to make those choices.. it has to be more mental.the farther you keep yourself off track the more your mouth annd head will start to crave the old ways.. seems like your kinda in that funk but you can pull yourself out.. its Never to late ... passign by that fav fast food place is a baby step , sometimes thats all it takes... starting to take baby steps to get back on the right track and frame of mind.

    YOU CAN DO THIS !
::Little Steps lead to Big Changes::

    4 week Post-Op: 275 36 Lbs down !!!

I've been struggling with this as well. Seems like my old habits are creeping back up. My problem is eating late at night, it's like I can eat more late for some reason? I have put up reminder notes all over my house to help me remember that I have to drink more water, have to workout, have to keep my carbs at a reasonable amount-for me that's under 100 for optimal weight loss. And no late night eating. I think after months and months you just get burnt out is all and it's normal to slip up some. As long as we don't let it become permanent it will be allright Plus I think with winter it was harder as well.

I don't recomend The liquid diet, its too hard and you will get discurraged and fall back to your old ways. Start eating small portions of high protein, viggies and very low carbs. Also very important is exersice. I workout every day. When I get head cravings or head hunger I get on the treadmill and go for a run/walk. when I'm done I no longer feel like eating again. Best of luck!

The good thing is that you are still down over 50 pounds. If you average it out you have still lost way over 1 pound per week, so I think you are a success story! Time to get back to basics & finish the thing

I recommend returning to the rule of protein first, green leafy vegetables second, other vegetables third, simple(r) carbs last. When I focus on getting my protein in (90g is what my doctor wants me eating) I am not hungry for much else.

And yes, being aware of what caused this slide for you is a great first step. You can do this!
