I am very close to my surgery date...and I don't have a lot of Sick/Vac time from work.. I was wondering what the average time for recovery is, from the day after surgery to going back to work??

I plan on taking a total of 6 days off from work. My surgery is on a Tuesday. I will take the rest of that week and Monday and Tuesday of the following week. My surgeon said this should be right about the amount of time I will need. But that will be using up almost all of my sick time so, I feel you.

Yes everyone is different. I had my surgery on the 10th, was discharged on the 11th. I plan on going back to work tomorrow, the 16th, after my followi up appointment. I have a desk job so it is not strenuous at all. I am not in a lot of pain but am still taking it easy because of inside healing.
I am so in awe of you guys going back so soon..... I am taking 5 weeks off work. Surgery 4/9/13.... going back 5/13/13. Suregon visit to release me on 5/8/13. I really wanted extra time to heal and be ready to hit it back 100%.

yes I have three kids as well a 3 year old , 5 year old and a 7 month old so I really have no choice to recover fast and go on with life lol, but again I don't want to strain myself and risk something. I have about a week of sick time from work so hopefully that is good enough... how was the pain after surgery?
My surgery was on a Thursday, home from the hospital on Saturday, and completely off pain meds by Tuesday. My pain was pretty minimal, but I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I was a little slow moving around, but I was still able to get most of my chores done. The hardest part for me was not being able to pick up my kids, because my youngest likes to be carried. Even though she's 3. Lol
My surgeon said the average is 2 weeks off from work. When he found out I had enough sick time, he asked me if I could take some extra...possibly up to one month to make sure everything goes smoothly and to give me time to recover. My surgery is next Tuesday.
I took off a full work week and 2 weekends and was fine and I am on my feet 50/50 at work... Everyone is different but I would have been bored with any more time off and thanks to laporoscopy, it was fine for me. Also a mom of 3 children. I was off pain meds on day 2 and was outside taking walks on day 3, for me the recovery was very simple, yet I was careful to not over do it!
