Default SLEEP--how much do you get and how does it impact your weight loss?

I've been in a little bit of a stall and as I was going over all of the possible causes the other day, one thing stood out--I'm not getting enough sleep! What has your experience been with this post sleeve? How much sleep do you typically get and how does that correlate to how you lose?

It directly affects my weight loss in that I have to go to bed to prevent myself from eating anymore. LOL. I have gone to bed before for the sole fact that I'm hungry!

Thanks B-rizzle. I've been following your posts and I actually thought about you when this issue came up for me. I wondered if it might be causing both of us to stall! I'm trying hard to get to bed earlier--how many hours do you try to get?

I typically get 6 hours of sleep. I know that's not enough, but it's just what I've done since literally college. In bed at midnight, up at 6 for about the past 12 years.

I work 3rd shift and I know I dont get enough sleep. I get broken sleep, get home around 8am go to bed until noon, get up go to the gym, come home cook dinner for my guys and back in bed by no later than 7pm and then up at 10pm to get ready for work. I was told by my surgeon that I need to get better sleep, dont know how since this is what I have to work....

I get on average 7 hours of good sleep each night. I have no problem going to sleep and/or staying asleep. I believe this is because of my physical activity.

Sleep, sleep, sleep -- oh how I wish I could sleep like my teenager! I find that I am often exhausted and fall asleep only to wake up between 2 - 4 am and then I am up, this might happen for two to three nights then I get a full night's sleep. I do know my scale totally reflects the quality of my sleep! Besides our protein intake, water intake, and exercise it is one of the most important factors in our weight loss success.

Since I've struggled with sleep issues for over 30 years, it is an on going battle. However, this is the first morning in over a month that I was awakened by my alarm clock.

I am in bed for 9 hours but still being woken by my baby 6-8 times a night. Oh the joys of attatchment parenting... Think my food choices are being affected as a result, eating sugar due to tiredness.

Before the sleeve surgery, I discovered that on weekends when I really was able to sleep in, my weight would always be lower on the scale on Saturday and Sunday. On days when I was able to take a nap, the scale would also show a lower weight. The first time I was up during the night with a sick baby (the 1980's)
it looked like I had gained 1.5 pounds and I had not even been able to get in a meal because of the baby being sick. So that being said, I discovered this a long time ago. It really does help to try to go back to sleep on your days off and maybe you will get the best of both worlds, more rest and weight loss! I think resting on the couch with your feet up helps too. Maybe you could get a 15 minute power nap, lol

I have old lady bladder so for me there is not such thing as a full nights sleep. But I have read several articles about lack of sleep adversely effecting weight loss. I usually get 7 to 8 hours of broken sleep which translates to about 5 hours of sleep. But I am lucky that I can take a 15 min power nap if I need it.
