    Default First the GOOD news.....

My 6month journey of insurance pre op- 6months with my physician and dietician is now over......well as of December 2012, THEN I found out that my insurance DID approve me for surgery, YEAH!! So wonderful Christmas present to me!!! Now the BAD news.......my surgeon, who used to work for the hospital that I work for, left last yr to work for our rival hospital....ok, he started the lap band surgery AT my hospital and had worked here doing that for almost 10yrs...ok, stay with me, dont fall asleep.....now, since he left and is doing the sleeve and lap band at this rival hospital, he has to be recertified to do the sleeve at MY hospital before they will let him do my surgery....whew....ok, stay with me, please....SO, today is um, Jan 20, still not hearing anything about him being approved, and he has done around 30sleeves at his new hospital.....Now dear readers, Im sure your saying to yourself, well then why dont you have surgery at HIS hospital, no no no, THAT would be too easy...and also a big fat NO, since I my insurance through my job, (this hospital) states that I can only have my surgery done at MY hospital.....so seeeeeee, Im starting to wonder if Im ever gonna get this done.......WHERE are my oreos???!!!!

Are there any other surgeons at your hospital that can do the surgery (though I'm sure you've already thought of that)? Sounds like you will eventually be able to get it done, though I know you want it sooner rather than later. Sending up prayer that things will work out swiftly to your benefit.

Yes, we do have 2 other surgeons that they hired, but they are very very new ( as in new grads) and my doctor has yrs behind him, so Id rather stick with him, but thank you so much for the prayers honey!!!

PUT THE OREOS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!! Believe me they are not the answer. Call your surgeon again and ask what is the expected date that he will be recertified and when can you expect to have your surgery. Do this before resorting to desperate measures (OREOS). Just a thought - just because a doctor is new doesn't necessarily make him unskilled at what he trained for. So if necessary you could talk to the new doctors and decide if you would be comfortable with one of them. Even the best doctor was new at one time. Just don't give up hope and resort to desperate measures (OREOS). They are so good but so bad. You can't at just one.

Highest weight 440 lbs. lowest weight 9.5 lbs at birth
    Date of surgery weight 340
    12 week checkup 301 BMI <50 yeah!
Weight on birthday 3/24/48 Goal 285 would be nice.

The one thing that my G
emphasized to me was to choose a doctor who has done LOTS of these procedures because experience was very important. I would probably wait. However, I am sure the new doctors must be good or they wouldn't have been hired.

How about taking a walk, a long soak in the tub, or just going someplace where you can yell/scream to your heart's content???? I hate hoops, hoops, hoops -- lord make my life easier and less frustrating! Best wishes on a speedy resolution.

Does your doc still have privileges at your hospital? If so, can he assist one of the new docs? I am so sorry the recertification has to be done, but I support you in asking good questions about how long that will take... the doc probably won't know... but whoever the admin is that is handling it either at his office or your hospital, stay on them like glue. Make them your best friend. Bribe them with those oreos to keep everything moving forward.

If you have no health issues other than your weight, I would go ahead adn get it done with the other doctor at your hospital, after all, it's in the states, and complication risks are already very low. That's my two cents worth! Good Luck to you.
